My husband drove for ATS in St Cloud, MN. He drove for them for a little over a yr. He was on the flatbed fleet. He had the greatest fleet manager. She made sure our family was taken care of and he got his miles and home time. When she was out for maternity leave, he got another fleet manager. Which sucked and caused him to quit. But other than that, the company was good. Their pay was fair, miles were good, home time was good. Oh and they had good trucks compared to other trucks. He was a company driver, but it is a good company. JUST get a GOOD driving manager! and stay AWAY from "opie" (if you go to work for them and get him, you will know! Quote:

Oh yeah, I wasn't scheduled for home time the last few days, I was waiting for my truck to be serviced. They were packed, couldn't get to it until Tues, then I went to a yearly safety meeting in the aft., and talked to the leasing dept. on Wed. AND I got paid for the "hassle" because of the truck! Not a bad deal I guess, not as much coin as a run, but don't think i've ever been paid to be home with the family! Right now i'm stuck in a Loves in Ne, damn storm has I80, I25,I76 closed for sure. And I think I70 and I90 as well. Is spring ever coming mommy? I know its only May, but geeesh. Enough already! Well like I said I talked to the lease guy the other day, I had three pages of questions for him. I have talked to at least 2 dozen drivers who are happy with their choice. Everything seems to be on the up and up. Wed. my FM had me talk to her suppervisor, who showed me actual runs etc. of about 6 drivers on the lease. I have to admit I was expecting the usual dog and pony show. You know "oh everyone makes toooonnnnss of money". Wasn't the case. She showed how some of the drivers weren't making it the way they were running. It did re-inforce to me that I won't, repeat won't, be doing the mileage if I ever go this route. Sliding scale? The longer the run the LESS I make per mile? No thanks. I'm still looking at ways toget my own truck and then see whats available. But that will take a bit more time. I just wanted some real answers you know, enough guessing. Well hopefully this crap blows by tonight and I can get on to CA for my Monday delivery. |
My husband was with ATS in the flatbed fleet and loved it until his Driving manager changed b/c the GOOD ONE went on maternity leave! She was the bomb! The new one wasnt so good. IF you change to flatbed, dont get "opie" he isnt worth 2 cents. Oh and BTW..if you go o/o or lease you will go back to St Cloud, for at least 3-4 days, with a classroom of other people, and get to choose from used company trucks. You will pick out your truck in order of preference then the "higher ups" will pull numbers out of a hat to see which truck they get, that is unless they have changed their lease program sense Feb. Hope this may help you make your mind up. AT least you are with a good company.

Go with ATS...they are a great starter company and really a good one to stay with. I mean all companies have their ups and downs it just seemed that ATS had more ups than downs.

Tracy was my husbands recruiter! He drove flat bed for them and liked it alot until he changed driving managers.
Until that, he got good miles, and good pay, and home time.
They over all are a good company.
