My DM alwasy told us to stay away from Cal, and Arizonia, basically because if we went in those area, we were out of her dispatch area. I got stuck in the Fresno terminal for almost 4 days once and was happy when I finally got out.

i know you guys catch alot of ####, so i wanted to add this. i stopped at the love's in zanesville ohio for fuel and lunch earlier and there were a total of 4 swift trucks there. all backed into holes.

there were several other companies represented, most hauling dry vans, who were parked nose in, in broad daylight.

kudos to swifty.

I have never understood why some people cant back in, IMO having to back out of a parking space is not the best thing to do let alone safe.

I know Swift does not have the best record out their but I will have to also say kudos to Swift on that.

The hours were rough as I never knew what time each day I would be working. You can never get a good routine going because of that. But I was happy to be home. A little over a month ago, I got called to see if I wanted to run on the Intermodal account. Found out about it and couldn't be happier. I now work from 6am til 6pm, Monday thru Friday with my choice to work a Saturday IF I WANT TO. I'm having a great time now. My input on Swift? Never a complaint. I get out of my job what i put into it.
Hey quickdodge.....if you don't mind my asking. What kinda pay you making doing the intermodal thing?

Also, does Swift still pull doubles all the time?

I already know the pay would be ridiculously low but I might be able to live with that for a while if I wasn't stuck doing things like AZ>CA>AZ>CA>NV>CA back and forth with 6 hours driving and 8 hours unloading, 8 more hours reloading for another 6 hour drive, rinse repeat. IE: 6 hours at ridiculously low pay and 12-16 hours at no or very little pay every day...which is exactly how it was when I worked at Swift 17 years ago. For good measure, they would occasionally completely fail to pay me for one of the 6 hour trips as well.
They are a better company now then they where 17 years ago. I have been with Swift for 4 years. almost all have been OTR, now I am on fruit of the loom dedicated. I love it i get 2800 to 3000 miles a week and Friday and Saturday or Saturday and Sunday off. All most 80% was drop and hook when I was 48 I told my DM that i hate peoples republic of California please don’t send me there I hardly went and when I did go it was those loads that was from Ohio to LA I just could not turn loads down like that lol. My average haul was around 650ish

I'm starting school in july in sacramento, and then out with my mentor. When I get my own truck, is it possible to mostly stay out of cal, if i'm from cal? I sort of like the idea of being otr. I don't mind being gon a wile if I can get lots of miles. Or is it better to team up to get miles? My preferance would be solo going coast to coast or somthing like that. I'm not sure how it all really works? any body have any info or advice thanks NEW TO SWIFT
