| I suggestion would be to look into a local school. Company schools make you sign a contract to stay with them for so long usually a yr |
| |||
| Go to a trucking job fair I went to one they have a lot of great companies that you can look into. I really am not going to say anything about a company because to each their own |
| ||||
| I had never thought of that. Thanks! |

| 1) i would go to a comm college or school vs. company training 2) it won't nessesarily be a "hard" first year; i got on with overnite (now UPS freight) about a month and a half after getting my licence. 3) where is manhattan ks? |
| ||||
| Manhattan is just outside of Topeka, maybe an hour or so west. nice little town defintely different than San Diego where I grew up |
| |||
| In that case, modify #1: If you can get on with one of the LTL (less-than-truckload) freight companies, i.e., FedEx Freight, UPS freight, yellow, ABF, R+L, roadway etc. Most of them have programs where they will train you to get the CDL. You'll most likely have to work the dock while you're in training, but you'll be getiing at least $17hr. The drawbacks are, lots of physical work and probably worst of all, the hours can and will be wacky, not to mention NO climate control; You work wether it's 100degrees or 0 degrees. So, i want you to investigate that as well. |

| Community Collages You are much better off going to a community collage, especially if they are ACCREDITED. Than go to Schneider or Crete or whoever. |
| ||||
| The community college does leave me with more options. Thank you guys for the input. I have a pre hire with Roehl and I am talking with Schneider now. i am lastly considering Prime Inc. Mostly though i have been impressed with Roehl in regards to friendliness of staff, amount of info the recruiter have provide in an organized way, and they seem to have a positive reputation. |
