I run for Knight out of the Phoenix terminal, and it has really been feast or famine since the middle of summer. 1 week is great, and the next week you can't buy a decent load.
As far as the company, they're pretty much like any other big company. A few changes are in progress, from what I understand. As of the first of next year, the whole company's supposed to be dispatched out of a central office in Phoenix, instead of each terminal doing their own thing.
Oh, and we're not forced dispatch either, which I like a lot.

Thx SSbowles.I hear they pay pretty fast too if you want. Is thier a catch to that? What kind of freight do they haul,is it driver friendly? Do they take care of their drivers or are you just a truck #?

You can get paid daily if you want, which is actually after each load and not really daily.
Freight is pretty much whatever you can put in a dry van. Food, paper, furniture....I even hauled a load of alfalfa bales out of Utah.
And definitely driver friendly. I have yet to touch anything in the trailer. They hired a driver, not a lumper.
How you get treated depends on who you get for a dispatcher, and how much you take before you bark back. Personally, I got rid of my first DM after about 60 days, and was lucky enough to get a REAL cool DM after that. Overall though, Knight does better than most companies.
In the end though, I'm not out here to make friends. Just keep me moving, and don't screw with me, and I'm a happy camper.

Thx again SSbowles. I live here in central OH and was just curious. I did talk to one of their recruiters 2day, and they told me they have regional out of the buckeye terminal or otr. I figure out of the buckeye I would pretty much be stuck doin east coast nonsense, and I just dont want to do that. Although I do want to be home on the weekends. But sense you say they dont force dispatch you, maybe that wont be a issue. I would really like to run between the buckeye and AZ or TX.

I know almost every time I get into the Columbus terminal (I'm originally from Newark) they try to ahng me with NE freight......yeah, I doubt it. But they will work with you, and once they learn where you like to run, how long you like to be out, etc it turns out pretty well.
Now if the freight would just pick up a little and stay steady.....

[quote=tribaldady;557212]They tell me orientation is on tuesdays, for 2days.Was 2 1/2 days for me, but the last partial day was getting the truck and load assignment. do they hold a week back if you do the option of getting paid after each load. That I'm not sure about, since I did the weekly pay. Do they let you take the truck home?Phoenix told us no since fuel went thru the roof recently. Personally after being in the truck for a few weeks, I don't wanna see it in my driveway for my days off.....
