I went with Swift for the training and mentor program to get you started in the right direction. The mentoring is for 6 weeks after your school, and yes the schools are still taking students and processing them. There is a new DOT training certification program now, more hours on the road at the school and also more range time. You have to arrive with your learners permit so they can take that out of the curriculum and add the road hours.

You have to take what you read here with a grain of salt on the negative stuff due to people like to ##### more than praise something.

I hate to say AfterShock is correct Swift is an OK company and did not get that large for being d... h..ds to the drivers who actually are making them money.

I don't know if schneider is taking any students right now but if they are i would go there. I know alot of guys that went there over the last few years and are very happy. You would have 2 weeks of classroom/driving 1 week of CDL training and 9 to 14 days with a trainer.I don't know much about the ones you are talking about but i thought about going to central a while back but they didn't pay there owner ops enough and like you said getting any info is like pulling teeth.

Schneider's schools are closed and they are currently only hiring experienced drivers. They may run a few classes at the Green Bay facility, but it doesn't sound like they'll do it all the time.

I started to go with Swift but after only one day at oreintation I drove back home. I went to the one in SanAntonio so it may not be the same at all their training centers. What discouraged me was how unorganized they were. They lost my paper work for a few hours but finally found it. I had to do the drug test twice because of this which wasn't a problem but just didn't seem like they had it together. When I arrived at the hotel I was the first in our room but within four hours there was two other people in there and the room only had two beds so they had to move one of the students. I know this really wasn't Swifts fault but I just kind of thought they should be monitoring the hotel they use a little better because I was told by two other stucents that the same thing happened to them. The hotel they use in San Antonio is a dump. They use it because it is right there close to the training center but man my dogs have a better place to sleep, again thats out of Swifts hands but they really should look for a hotel built at least in the last 20 years. There were several other small things that just kind of ate at me so I went with my gut and came home. I didn't leave mad and the Swift person told me if I changed my mind to give them a call and they would reschedule me but I decided to just go to a school here local and get my CDL. Now I haven't drove one of Swifts Volvos but they look like they are nice. My wife drives a volvo and if the truck is built anything like the cars they have to be good. I'm 100% American but The Swedish and Germans sure engineer some nice autos. Swift might be a good company and with it getting harder for newbies like myself to get into the industry companies like Swift sure help get ya started. In the end I narrowed my choice down to two compnaies, McElroy and TMC because I wanted to pull flatbeds, Tmc won and I head that way on the 29th. I wish anyone going with Swift or any other company all the luck and all of you have a very merry Christmas and a safe New Year.
