Don't lease. Drive a company truck with a teammate. You will make money, and wont have the hassle of the lease. Solo company is no longer available. I lease currently and make about 400 a week # 2600 -2800 miles a week. Not the best money, but I my 2 year anniversary is coming and I will soon be gone. I read in a post that England trucks get pulled into weigh stations allot. I have a Pre Pass, and almost never get a red light. Good Luck..

Wow, I came into this thread with high hopes! Boy they were crushed really fast. My Husband left for CRE on 3/7. I have been desperately searching for some thing good about england but still all i really hear is bad. From the way it sounds if he becomes a company driver he wont get the miles. So my hubby almost feels forced into a lease witch i am sooooooooooo affraid of. We kind of feel like we are stuck with them. They were the only company to say yes. My hubby has a descent driving record, his liscense was suspended at 18 for underage drinking and thats it. but his work history is a little shacky. He was in construction for 7 years. He went thru alot of job changes when the economy started going bad no one could keep work. He also always worked a second job. Then he had the past year off of work due to a workmans comp injury. He was not allowed to return to construction after that. Thats why he got his CDL. So his application looks horrible. One recruiter even told him he was red flagged due to the amount of jobs he has had. I guess the fact the he was normally working 2 jobs at the same time does not matter to them. I am just looking for a little sign of hope that things might be okay for us. I understand he has to pay his dues somewhere, but I just feel like we are being scamed. I am wondering if anyone can explain there lease options to me a little better? I have heard that you should only lease a new truck but you can only do that with a 3 year lease and my hubby wants to pay his dues and run as fast as he can to the first company that will take him. I am hoping that if he puts a year in some where eles will hire him. Just trying to figure out our best option and really affraid of going broke. Seeing as how the only income my family gets is from my husband. Anybody have any advise on how to make it work if you have to with CRE???????????

If he must go fleece, get him to lease it through Freightliner (Warner Truck Center). They are only a couple of doors down from CR. At least if they dont give him the miles with CR, and he feels that CR is rubbing him wrong as well, he can still find other jobs with that truck.

I'm currently with CRE, having started about 6 weeks ago. Came in as an experienced driver at the recommendation of friends who obviously can't do math and think that $500 a week is an acceptable wage.

I completed the train the trainer course, with the intent of bringing my son in. WITH a trainee, running right at 17,000 miles since I got my truck, my settlements have read as follows:

    4/07: (Projected) $1,050

    3/31: NEGATIVE $288

    3/24: $676.13

    3/17: $914.25

    3/10: NEGATIVE $196

3/03: $120 (for completing the train the trainer course)

So, with right at 17,000 miles, , in five weeksI've NETTED $2276.38, plus we have to allow for a $100 per week advance, so the total is $2776.38....do the math on what that pays per mile.

OK, I'll do it for you - 16.3 cents per mile.

Can someone who leases with CRE break down the weekly payments in a way that would make sense to someone who doesn't understand any of this stuff?? Like "400 truck payment, 200 insurance, 10 qualcomm, etc"... I saw that beantowntrucker gave the costs (I think it was him) but to be honest I don't know what the hell he was talking about really. Beantowntrucker, your rundown seemed a lot more complicated than similar figures for other companies like TransAm, etc., no offense (I'm a total rookie)

Now is when 100 people will tell me "IF YOU DON'T EVEN UNDERSTAND ENOUGH TO KNOW WHAT HE WAS TALKING ABOUT, YOU SHOULDN'T BE LEASING, PERIOD, BUT ESPECIALLY NOT FROM CRE!!!!" ... and also 100 more people will give me 100 names of companies I should try first, which I'll do for the next week, and the end result will be none of them will hire me anyway.... Don't get me wrong - I appreciate all the help, but I just think you folks who are actually working don't know how bad it is right now trying to get a job! I've not a stupid person, and yet I'm seriously considering leasing with CRE even AFTER reading all the negative stuff here. If I can break even or even owe them $1000 when I turn in my truck I'll be happy. At this point I'll drive for free, just for the experience. All I've been doing since I quit Swift is look for a job (I haven't been partying and watching movies with hookers), and now after 5 months people are already telling me the experience I have is too old! Either that or not enough. My driving record isn't even that bad, people (DUI more than 5 years ago but no chargeable accidents or violations in 5 years) and even places like TransAm won't hire me to LEASE! Why? "Nothing specific really - we're just being really really fussy these days."

Anyway, yeah ... could someone give me an understandable rundown of the weekly costs?

(By the way, I'm asking about the lease thing because CRE and many other companies are ONLY hiring drivers for lease programs - no new company drivers)

One more thing, FYI ... many companies smaller than Swift, CRE, etc., have insurance that doesn't cover drivers with less than 1 year. YEAH, I KNOW, I shouldn't have quit Swift, but I thought I had something lined up ... a company I thought I had a job with took a crap late Septempber/early October when the economy took a dive.)

wow I just spent the last 4 hours reading threw these post, and No I dont have anything better to do right now. I have been out of work 4 months know. CR is the only company to call me back, so I am taking there offer. I aready know you don't sigh a lease with a big company. I am planning to drive solo for this summer and bring my Wife on as a team driver. Then finnish off my year and buy my own truck. There is alot of ###### companies out there, most people complain about there company. If you have time to piss and moan on here then your doing something wrong , you should be driving, sleeping or spending time with the wife and kids. Not whinning on here
