are you refering to still being a driver?
I would rather get paid for the hours I work both in and out of the truck, not the miles I drive and everything else is free. I loved OTR but the pay did not = the work you do or missing your kid growing up. I missed enough 12 years in the military
well consider me CLUELESS IN TAMPA, what options might be available to drivers, i am still rubbing the green off me and i have only found one other profession i have liked more than driving.
what suggestion's might you have?

4000 miles a week is not running hard. If you have to be away from home theres no reason to camp at truck stops, thats possibily the worst place to be. If your logging the actual way your driving you must be a local hourly driver or you haven't been taught how to log. All my time stamped stops line up always, How you log really depends on the safety department of your employer. Mosy impolratant is stop if your tired regardless of the log book.

You don't hang out in truck stops because you're always drivin', but you ask other drivers in those truck stops you don't hang out in --- questions you find funny when you often ask yourself why they're gettin' "screwed"?
Those who have direct deposit don't "see" their checks.
A driver could wind up winnin' more off those "bets" than they're paid for drivin' a Big truck.

Who are they afraid of, and why SHOULD they be afraid?
Not to mention the C.R.E. Armed guards.
That word seems to get a LOT of use from C.R. England drivers.
Would that be before, or after C.R. England gets the unsuspecting, starry-eyed, newBee's signature on the lease contract that C.R.E. talked them into signing, knowing full well what that newBee will "learn"?
What does C.R. England "learn" from all the failures they've set others up for?

It seems that when we hear things about C.R. England that SEEM to be too good to be true, we only hear it ONCE, ---- and then the poster disappears.

Or, we hear how great C.R. England is, with promises to us that a poster will keep us informed as to their experiences there.
And then they suddenly disappear without a trace.

I've heard it suggested that perhaps they're "too busy drivin'" to post here anymore. But I'm thinkin' that ANYone doin' great would want to, and find the time to, --- tell us the good news.
Besides, you claim that you run 4,000 miles a week, average, and YOU found the time to post here, ............. once.
Right?
Or is it twice?
Which leads me to believe that those folks found out the TRUTH, and are afraid or ashamed to admit they should have listened to the advice to avoid C.R. England.
BTT, you've given 6 reasons why, you claim, other Big truck truck drivers don't succeed at C.R. England, --- based on conversations you CLAIM to have had at truck stops you CLAIM you're rarely at.
If you're "averaging" 4,000 miles a week as a SOLO driver, I wonder where you find the time to be involved in those idle conversations where you learn "funny" things while asking yourself?
Or why you'd even bother?
And to suggest that if other C.R.E. drivers followed your suggested directions on how to succeed at C.R.E. they'd also be running 4,000 mile average weeks, seems a tad, .......... well, .... absurd.
It's my contention that if you actually ARE getting 4,000 miles a week "average" --- YOU'RE not the "average" C.R. England driver.
And to suggest that other C.R.E. drivers can expect those kind of miles, --- is misleading. And DOES sound a lot like what two previous posters hear and smell ---- dispatcher talk and recruiter aroma.
Some might say bovine excrement --- but I won't go that far.
Unless you disappear like the other C.R.E. drivers who report how well they're doin' there.

Also I noticed that you say you do 4000 miles a week and you do it legal, because you arent sitting around in truck stops complaining. First of all you are not doing 4000 miles a week as a solo company driver for CR England--I will call you on the rug on that as will about everybody else on here-since at a 60mph average that is over 66 hours week, and you only have 70 hours total. Unless of course you are not logging legally or you never have traffic problems, and you never stop to unload or buy fuel or anything else. And then you say that you never saw a paycheck under $800 since training was over? That is bring home I hope for 4000 miles, and even if it is that still means that you are getting only about $.29 per mile(which comes out to $1160 gross based on 4000 miles) So I guess you would have to view trucking as a lifestyle since you are working way to hard--thus having no life outside the truck. And you think that CR England isnt screwing you? Based on your own observations they are screwing you big time, just because you dont feel it doesnt mean they arent.Last edited: Nov 30, 2008

I started out with England,and I dispute just about everything you said.
Let's break it down.
1) I only hear the ones at the TRUCKSTOPS not making money
Because the ones on the road can't afford to buy a c.b.
2) Been LATE on loads multiple times
I always hear this one,there may be some truth to that.I wouldn't know.In almost 10 years out here,I can count on one hand the times I been late (that were my fault) on one hand.Sometimes you just don't hear the Screaming Meanie.
3) DOT shutdowns (15 minutes in the morning for a pre trip?)
Never happened to me.
4) Chargeable accidents (truck stop lots 95% of the time)
Look Ma,no accidents.
5) Unwilling to take a small run or two (news flash. 600 miles is better than sitting)
England is forced dispatch.They are not in the habit of negotiating w/rookie drivers over preferred routes.You run what they tell you.There aint no such thing as ''turning down'' a load at England.
6) a week off every month (think about it)
Uh,how about 3 days every month? And I had to fight for that.Ain't NOBODY at England getting a week off every month.
The above are the most common things I have heard from England drivers getting "screwed"
While I'm sure if your cracking up equipment,having a fit if your dispatched out of your comfort zone,they'll keep you around long enough to get you a trip back to Salt Lake and then fire you.I don't blame them there.
The game out here is simple. DRIVE! spend less time in these truck stops and do what you are paid to do. In 4 years I have never seen a check under $800 (except for training) and yes, times get slow but if you are willing to take the short runs now and then I bet you are more likely to get the big run next time around.
I drove for England for 6 months.I NEVER,EVER,EVER,EVER,had a check for over $550.00..Not once.More like $2-300 averages.
Not that I didn't run my butt off, because I did.It's just that between their crap pay rate,the continual pay mistakes,and paying back their loan,I sometimes got checks for $75.00.Don't tell me about all the advances I took either,cause at the time England didn't allow more than a hundred a week in advances.I had no shortage of miles at England.Back then at least England had freight,and I never sat more than a day anywhere.Just never made any money.
Granted. there's some garbage DMs but remember. they work for you!! If they aren't doing their job move on!!! Can't stress that enough!!
I had 3 DM's at England ,2 good and one surly butch woman w/##### envy.I got along fine them except for Rhonda or RON as she liked to be called.Me and RON went hats and bats several times.I had to remind her a few times that she won't talk to me like I'm dog or a basic training recruit.
I wouldn't encourage newbie drivers to go parading into dispatch and telling them to move on. Belive it or not, dispatchers rarely feel they owe rookie drivers an explanation.
Now granted a lot have no idea what they are getting into (especially the ones taking 3 year leases out of the gate) but we all learn!!!
Lucky for me,I was a rarity at team England,I actually had a trainer who was driving more than 6 months.Larry, my trainer,had been out here for over 30 years when I got into his truck.Great guy,and a terrific trainer.He really helped make the transition from green student to newbie/rookie a lot easier.
As for others not knowing what they're getting into,your right.England counts on that.That's why they push those predatory leases.That's why they had their ##### dragged into court too.
Oh and for the record. I have and always will be a solo driver. 4k miles a week average and I do it legal because I know better than to sit in a truck stop complaining
I won't call you a liar.I'll just say I don't belive you.I think your more than likely an England infiltrator, or a very rare exception to the rule at England.I'm going with door number one.
Bottom line here folks.Stay away from England.They are really bad news.I don't expect anyone to take only my word for this.No, I'd encourage them to read the 45,000 thousand other threads,and responses to them about ENGLAND,and decide for themselves,which version is closer to the truth.
