Been with England going on 4 years now and I never come out and say it when I am at a truck stop just to hear what other drivers have to say. Funny thing is the ones I talk to are the ones not making money. why is that I often ask myself....

    Let's break it down.

    1) I only hear the ones at the TRUCKSTOPS not making money

    2) Been LATE on loads multiple times

    3) DOT shutdowns (15 minutes in the morning for a pre trip?)

    4) Chargeable accidents (truck stop lots 95% of the time)

    5) Unwilling to take a small run or two (news flash. 600 miles is better than sitting)

    6) a week off every month (think about it)

The above are the most common things I have heard from England drivers getting "screwed"

The game out here is simple. DRIVE! spend less time in these truck stops and do what you are paid to do. In 4 years I have never seen a check under $800 (except for training) and yes, times get slow but if you are willing to take the short runs now and then I bet you are more likely to get the big run next time around.

Granted. there's some garbage DMs but remember. they work for you!! If they aren't doing their job move on!!! Can't stress that enough!! Now granted a lot have no idea what they are getting into (especially the ones taking 3 year leases out of the gate) but we all learn!!!

Oh and for the record. I have and always will be a solo driver. 4k miles a week average and I do it legal because I know better than to sit in a truck stop complaining ;)

No trust me. You don't know the half of the horrors these clowns perpetrate on drivers.

Every Company will have it Horror Story by a driver who did not cut it.

I did work for England when I started, and looking back, I should had stayed. But I did not and to late to go back now. I had to learn the hard way, Bad attitude at the time.

My guess is not legally as at 65 mph that would take 61.5 hours, don't leave much time for loading, unloading, fueling, pre-trip or anything else.
I guess if it's all drop and look, the truck is nuclear powered, and the trips are all 2k or more it could be possible.

I agree, "creative" logging and coast-to-coast runs could do it. But I wouldn't want to.:biggrin_2552:

I will never understand these guys that don't want to do anything out in the truck but work. I want to have somewhat of a normal life. I don't want to work 14 hours a day and don't think I should have to. If I can't earn a living working a normal work schedule I will find something else to do.

Ditto. I drive 1000 miles a week and never see a paycheck less that 1000 bucks.

I would rather get paid for the hours I work both in and out of the truck, not the miles I drive and everything else is free. I loved OTR but the pay did not = the work you do or missing your kid growing up. I missed enough 12 years in the military.
