Years ago they were tied into a Volvo dealership. Not sure what you would consider a guy with a few trucks but they have at least over 50 trucks....to me that is more than just a few.

The guy that owned valley used to own the volvo dealer. Thats how he go so many trucks and got started.

I thought they had closer to 100 and I was just using it as a reference. I probably would've been easier to just say they don'thave their own authority.

    Les,

I would agree that they probably have 100 trucks. Hard to tell based on what you see in the yard so I estimated low. Either way, these guys are more than just a guy with a few trucks.
Eitherway, they appear to be first class and I see alot of their trucks running up and down 71 and across 30.

I'm still here with valley. Goin on 2yrs now. We have # 130 volvos. We are leased on to great american. We have our own loads that we take out of ohio. Outside of ohió we use great american for loads. We basically serve northern ohio steel mills. Usally in an out of ohio every 2 days with weekends off. We do get paid percentage of each load with no pay on deadhead. Non forced dispatch but u atleast have to make a certain amount to the truck each week. I made 67,000 last year with them. I don't have any horror stories with them to report. I'm content with them. Its a rough job in its self but I'm rewarded for my hard work.

been there for almost 2 years!!i would like 2 know when they r gonna clean the inside of my truck??!!!!:biggrin_25523: i have been around trucks all my life and will say this about Valley.. they are not JUST A GUY WITH A COUPLE TRUCKS!!!:biggrin_25516: 2 brothers and there mother own OVER 100 POWER UNITS AND TRAILERS.. they pay percentage.. they do take care of there equipment..they are leased to Great American Lines out of PA..the oldest equipment they have are 1998 Volvos(which my starter truck was the oldest 1 they had pulling a trailer!!!!!)
Now i do have some minor issues with them, but you will have that with any company!! i will say this I WOULD RECOMMEND THEM TO ANY 1 WHO WANTS TO DRIVE and do so all the time.. another thing, if you live over 50 miles from ashland, there is a possibility they let you take your truck home.. squirrel aka:tree rat 11382

A little birdy told me that drivers are expected to fudge their logbooks "to get the job done." i.e. to run illegally.
