Hey guys thanks for all the info. The break even point surly is workable taken into account that it would probably be a bit more for a new hire. I also think if I can get into a 07 or newer it should be in a good enough condition to accept it even if it required a foot race to get into. You’re correct Andrew my running shoes will be ready however I do plan to try and scope out a few trucks before the big race.

I had really hoped I would find a Freightliner Columbia, Century or Cascadia but it seems that will not happen. I have also been driving a 10 speed for the last 15 years or more so a 13 speed will also be a hilarious experience to say the least. Anyways I can get comfortable in a freightliner XL hood however will be regretting it in the big cities Philadelphia, New York, ect…

Well anyway I hope everyone has a great new year and stay safe and warm! This time of year is crazy to me because I was used to cold wintry weather growing up in Philadelphia, now living in Tampa the average winter day is about 80 degrees. I guess at some point I will feel normal in a tee shirt and shorts on new year’s day but I’m still not quite there yet!

Have a great holiday everyone!!!!

Forget the footrace to the trucks......if they catch you running, they will escourt you off the property. maybe I am oldfashioned, but with todays economy, anytime you an get a job making this kind of money, you shouldn't worry about which truck you are going to drive. If you really want the truck of your dreams, go to the dealer, they have quite a few there. JCT will gladly put you on as a broker

Perhaps I've had the wrong perception of the whole process. After all, I've driven by the yard many times, and there's always plenty of trucks. And, you're looking at 20-30 adults in orientation, not a class full of 3rd graders.

Do they have Orientation every week? with 20+ people in class? If thats the case, they must have 20+ people quit every week. Or are these numbers inflated? You said you see plenty of trucks, and thats a great sign for someone needing to choose the truck they really prefer. Happy New Year and Drive Safe

From what I understand from recruiting is they do have orientation every week and put no more than 15 people in each class but the class is not always full. One thing I do know and like very much is they completely check you out before you ever get the ok to start orientation. My boss who is a very good personal friend of mines also, told me that they called 4 times asking questions not only about me but the company as well. They also wanted any written reports on my drug testing, any records on accidents and all evaluations. He also said they wanted to know about the companies safety record and dot filings. He said the only thing he could not give them was company written evaluation reports because they don’t give that kind of info out.

Two different people had also called me back asking me several questions about former employers and any tickets. Fortunately I had all my ducks in order. I have no accidents or tickets and before I started looking for a new job I got a copy of my DAC so I already knew what former companies had said about me, luckily my DAC is also clean. The thing I like is they take care of all this dirty work and get it out of the way before you haul your ### up to orientation just to get blind sided buy something that pops up on your background that you may not even remember. I think they are super anal in their detail on their investigation but I do appreciate it.

I would say from my experience of the hiring experience so far is if you have something to hide or something to keep private, you may not want to apply to JCT because they are going to look you over fairly well and they are not going to give you the ok until they get answers to all of the questions that they ask. Well that’s my two cents on the hiring process so far and as I said before I’m going for orientation on Jan/26 but I started the hiring process back around the last week of November so they are not in a rush. You get accepted when they are satisfied!

We did not go home for New Years,we are on are way to Phoenix. We celebrated the New Year In Pecos TX and again in Sierra Blanca, TX. Just a little more informatin, just because you make orientation, does not mean you are hired. You are not hired till you are dispatched. They go thru these trucks pretty thoroughly. If there is anything wrong when you get the truck, they WILL fix it. There was 26 people in our orientation, and everyone got the truck they wanted. They are now out of trucks and are doing any hiring untill February. good luck to all. Got to get back out there

It amazes me that JCT is that anal, yet thier safestat score as of right now is a 90, Inspect. If they are going to be that anal, then they need to get compliant them selves.
