Hometime was great for us. We live in Fl and all the teams run Ca to Fl. Get use to running I-10 because you will rarely leave it. Although in the winter that could be a plus. Also no mountains and the fuel is cheaper. Your dispatcher will be Charlie. Shes not the friendliest but it doesn't really matter because you pretty much do the same run all the time. She is the only dispatcher for teams. Make sure you never refuse a load. They will fire you. I'm sorry that I made it seem like a bad decision, I am just posting so that other drivers are aware. A lot of single drivers are very happy with JCT. Maybe once they grow a little larger and have more trailers the team freight will be a little more constant. Please let me know what you think about the truck selection process on Wednesday. My wife and I found it quite interesting. All the bad aside, we had a very good experience with the shop and the mechanics. They were always quick at getting us in and fixed and always did a good job. A little pricey but worth it. Good luck, let me know how wednesday goes. Oh yeah, one other thing: there is a much better super 8 in sapulpa exit218 I believe right by the movie theatre.

I was contiplating JCT. I talked to a recruiter last year at the Mid-America Truck Show. She made it sound like a deal too good to pass up. One of the biggest concerns I had was the way you make your selection. If I'm going to eventually own the truck I'd want to first know everything about a particular truck. Not just making a mad-dash outside to be the first one to a truck. That just seems so childish to me. I would want to look the truck over and have them pull a report off the ecm so I could see what the truck was doing. Also, another thing that I didn't like is that they had nothing but "hoods" when I talked to them. Gotta have a fuel efficient truck if you want to make it.

You have made some excellent points here.
I was also wondering, would anyone seriously make a mad dash for a truck without educating themselves about it first.:biggrin_25512:

The truck selection process was quite strange. My wife and I were very leary about it, but had heard good things about JCT so decided to go ahead with it. They did start a new policy though, you used to be able to switch trucks within 90 days if you didnt like what you had. But now the turnover rate is substantially higher, and the orientation classes have been at least 20 people a week. Now you are not allowed to switch trucks. Once you make your mad dash and pick a truck that is it. They do for the most part have good trucks. Most of them are not fuel friendly. They are getting in new cascadia's but they are going to senior drivers. Oh yeah, they do have t-600's. tough on teams though.

Im sure this changes daily, But is their usually more than enough trucks to accomidate the people in class that week?
Im just curious if there is 20 people and 20 trucks and the one that is left for you is not in good condition are you stuck with it or do you have the option to wait till something more sound comes in? again hypothetical, just something I was curious about.:biggrin_2554:

Unfortunately you are stuck with it. Sometimes there are a lot of trucks sometimes not. The lot where you pick the trucks is right next to the guard shack and butted up to the employee parking. The new trucks there go to the senior drivers and there are some used trks that are being reserved for other drivers but for the most part those are your choices. You will get a list tommorrow about ten minutes before you head out there. All the trucks have numbers and letters. Example: L4332c The first letter means lease the last letter determines how many times the truck has switched hands A being the newest.

Oh yeah in response to Olde Goat, as you will find out in orientation JCT pays a lot for driver recruiting. That is where we made most of our money. So when you talk to other drivers keep that in mind. We made 1200.00 per driver and you get paid as soon as they go through orientation. You will notice if you read older threads about JCT.

I talked to Charli today. I told her I heard stories about Teams not getting miles. She said if we were not getting at least 5500 a week to let her know and she would find out why. I told her we were not comming there to sit on our ### in some truck stop. I am not real crazy about the truck selection either. I am going to run by myself untill the first of the year, then my wife will be on board. Charli said I could either stay with my current DM at that time or switch over to her. We'll see. I will say one thing, they seem to be very driver oriented. The only thing I have seen that might be a problem, is I think they need to give Javada a drug test.
    Chompi should understand this:biggrin_25525:
