The cascadias are also 10 speed with a detroit. The inside is basically the same as a columbia or century class. The prostars if they didn't change it are gonna have the cummins engine with 10 speed. I haven't been able to look inside one of those yet so I can't give u my opinion haha. I personally like the KW. But I hear cascadia drivers that its a big improvement as far as stability and not as loud as the columbias. Hope I've answered ur questions Quote:

I'm guessing 72 cuz that's how fast our trks go. Or maybe 65 cuz that's the fastest u can log. Sometimes you have to push hard on one of them loads epecially tyson (broken arrow to cali in day and a half) and sometimes you might have load with plenty of time on it Last edited by rookietrucker; 04.25.2009 at 11.59 PM.. | JCT questions Hello to all, & Thanks to all of you who take the time to read & reply to so many good questions. I am considering a move to JCT, & after reading ALL 59 pages of posts, I still have some questions. 1. The truck selection process after orientation seems a little ....questionable. Could somebody please elaborate. Are you possibly forced to take, & pay for, a truck you really do not like? At the end of 90 days in a truck you do not like, does your maintenance fund move with you into another truck? 2. Truck weight, could someone give me an idea which of the available trucks are the lightest, & the fuel economy of them. I know this is a long shot, but the more wind I am pushing, & the more dead weight I am dragging around, is less money in my pocket. 3. Do any or all of these trucks,(at the selection process), still have any of the manufacturer warranty still available. Thanks for your time. |

| I don't have experience with all the trucks JCT uses, but here is my rough guess on weight from lightest to heaviest: 1. T600 2. 9900 3. FL Classic 4. Tie, W900 and 379 Anyone else? |

2. Lightest to heaviest - Cascadia, Prostar, T660/600, 9900, classic, T900, pete 379 Fuel mileage (Prostar Cascadia T660) good (9900 classic T900 379 ) bad 3. Yes the warranty is I believe 300,000 miles. Not positive but for kw is 300,000 engine 100,000 bumper to bumper. Last edited by rookietrucker; 04.25.2009 at 11.59 PM.. Reason: back to back posts |

Also a word of advice on the classic's they ordered those trucks with a odd ball rearend they are made by alliance not and are not Etons and have had problems with them and were not covered for more than 300,000 miles. My friend also found that out $$$$$ that when # about 350,000 miles he got rid of it and went to the 9900.Been for the most part trouble free other then being Tyson high gloss brown. |

| When I watched it with my Classic (pre-JCT) I could conisistently get it between 6.3-6.7. I even saw it break 8 pulling almost no weight in a dry box up I-5 twice. (first time I thought it was a fluke, but got the same load again and matched the fuel economy. Broke into the 7's quite often with light loads. BTW, same truck got 2.1 running at 80+MPH at 106,000 pounds) By comparison, I've barely been able to get my 9900 much over 6 (until recently), no matter how hard I try. Which is one of the reasons I don't worry about it much. I've learned that I can run as hard as I want and never pull it under 5, but if I'm easy on it, I can't get much better than upper 5's. Empty weight on my truck, full on fuel, with one of our rail trailers is around 36,500. Most of the guys I've talked to running the 9900's can't seem to get any fuel economy out of them. However, my fuel economy has been kinda weird lately. I picked up a load at Willcox, AZ going to LA and Sparks, NV. I scaled at 80,150 when I left Willcox. The scheduling was a little tight (read: impossible) so I ran literally with my foot on the floor the entire trip. (during which I learned that the truck's computer beeps at a certain speed. You don't want to know what that speed is, per my GPS) I fueled at the Flying J in Lodi, CA and was stunned with 6.7 MPG. I delivered in Sparks, picked up a load of onions bound for Florida that scaled me at 79,800. Once again, I ran foot hammered down. Next tank: 6.4 MPG. So, I've just kept my foot on the floor since. I did have one tank after I left the yard where the wind kicked my butt. I was unable to get the truck above 60, pushing the truck with everything it had. I got 5.1. Other than that, my fuel economy has been staying over 6.0 with the foot down. (6.2 across Oregon and Idaho) This is what my actual is, using how many gallons I put in the tank. If I went by what the qualcomm thinks I'm getting, I'm getting 9+!!! LOL If anyone can explain to me how I'm getting better fuel economy driving my truck like a NASCAR driver, feel free. As long as it continues, I plan on running like a bat out of hell. |
