For you Werner drivers, do you apply for the division you want. I'm putting in aps with flatbed companies, was going to do a Werner ap. for their flatbed division.

Not interested in van, reefer, dedicated (unless it was fb!).

Thanks.

Thanks for a good post Bad Influence...

Been with Werner five years this month. Ran 48 states dry van when I started. Ran dedicated and stayed close to home for a couple of years. Last year and a half or so been running reefers.

Not had any major problems. In fact, every time I have had a situation at home, they have done everything possible to help out.

Do they get a bad name because of how many rookies they hire? Yep. Hey I was one of them. But there are a lot of good drivers there as well.

And as for the horror stories, show me one company that has thousands of employees and doesn't have some unhappy people.

Currently Werner is not hiring into their Flatbed division but you can still try. They do have dedicated positions in their Flatbed division but those positions are hard to get.

Also keep in mind that Werner pays their flatbed drivers a lower rate than vans or reefers and you only get $20 to tarp.

We love flatbed but make .08 more cents per mile on vans and right now we need every penny we can make.

Why would Werner pay that much less per mile for to a flatbedder? That's the 1st company (with both van & flat) that I have heard of does so.

I read on a Werner Flatbed thread that they only have 60 flats. The pay is probably why. They can't expand the fleet because there aren't enough FB drivers that dumb (and there are some real dumb ones out there!)

Unfortunately for the other 75% of drivers "not what I heard (thank god)" isnt the case. If it were the other way around, if werner didnt have a revolving door of students and drivers fueled by tax breaks, kickbacks and other incentives from uncle samantha and they didnot constantly violate peoples rights and ruin their careers by lying and falseifying documents, kept experienced drivers and paid them a decent wage(not 25cpm) then ya "not what i heard(thank god)" might beapplicable.lol Im sorry, but that is the most ignorant, stupidest thing ive heard in along time. That could be comparable to someone of nonjewish religion in 1940sgermany "not what i heard(thank god)"strong example but really, cmon!?11000 trk drv jobs lost in sep-oct 09 with 7500 n oct alone and werner is steady packin out the classrooms. Schneider(which is larger) are not hiring inexperienced drivers(students..)but werner, werner is keep'n em comin. Werner would go out of business if it werent for student training and cheap labor.if these companies can reduce their labor costs, that is a direct reduction in overhead, which increases their bottom line. I agree that it should be best to keep a consistent work force, but the way this carrier turns people through the door[more like arevolving door], money gotten from the Feds has to help their bottom line. It is almost like they have FREE labor during the training period.People need to hear the truth, if it was the other way around , if werner had good morals and cared about their drivers and didnt think of them as warm bodiesand 3/4 of the drivers didnt get screwed and all u heard was the other 25%, then ya..i might agree but I meab really, we're talkin about werner!! wake up...If you are thinking of going to werner, im tellin ya now, DONT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
