Crete Carrier Corp.(So far so good!)

Hello. Ive been with Crete Carrier a little more then a month now and almost done training. So far, I do like this company. They have been 100% honest with me and me and my trainer get along very well and have alot in common. Below(in my opinion)are some of the things that have made me happy with Crete thus far...

*500.00 a week training pay(before taxes, but still more then what other companies pay starting off for student drivers)

*.34 cents a mile after training(Pretty good for someone in theyre 1st year in the industry)

*Crete has showed respect to me as an employee. I feel like I have been treated as an individual....not just another number

*Crete hasnt played games. They didnt convince me to work for them by "bonuses" and "goodies". It was what I look for in a company. They told me who they are. From there, it was in my hands.

*I feel that they want me to be sucessful as much as I do. When you are doing a good job, they let you know it!

*Seen alot of country.(Which you would with any OTR co.)Ive been in, IN,IL,MO,IA,NEB,KS,OK,WY,UT,NV,CA,AR,TX,CO,TN,KY,V A,WV,NC,SC,GA,PA,OH,MR, and Im sure more.

Look, I dont want to jump to conclusions. EVERY company has theyre own little problems. This is all in my opinion, but also, this has been my experience with Crete so far and it has been a positive one. Is trucking for everyone? No. But I would encourage anyone going into this field, to give it a chance. Its hard being away from home weeks at a time(and im no exception). Its hard being away from friend, hobbies, and family. Trucking is NOT what I thought it would be. For those thinking your just gonna get behind the wheel and drive...well you are. BUT there is alot more to it then that. Especially paperwork. Im not a know it all. In fact, Im just getting started. Im only telling you my experience so far. I guess the best thing to do is go in with a positive attitude and make the best out of it. Also, PLEASE PLEASE do research into any company before you work for them. There are good companies out there. There are also BAD ones. This job is a lifestyle, NOT just a job. At least do some research. You owe it to yourself. Well, im gonna be back on the road soon. Just enjoying some hometime. I will have more updates soon. Good luck everyone and be SAFE.

I've been w/ Crete on my own for about a month. Good experience w/ training and since I've been on my own. Miles have been decent considering the economy and such. Got around 2700 this week

Yeah, it seems like they have a good amount of miles for as bad as this economy is. I havent heard complaints about that

Crete hires rookies?

So Crete is your first company? What experience did you have prior to Crete? I'm studying to get my CDL and really like what I've read about Crete, but I didn't think they hired newbies. I'll check around in some of the other threads, but any info you may provide is appreciated.

Andrew,
Give them a call and work on a pre-hire. They do want the CDL school to be PTDI certified...pretty strict about that part. Good luck!

The recruiter there said that to me as well. Luckily my school IS PTDI certified.

Your school must be PTDI certified and you must score at least 95%, I think, for them to accept you. Then you're with a trainer for 8 weeks($500/wk)then 2 days of orientation(also paid). After orientation, you will be assigned a truck and are paid $.34/mile. In my first month, actually only about 3 wks, I got 8800 miles. Happy so far.

I also have been working with Crete for about a month. So for they are doing ok. They are doing ok with getting me back for national gurad but ive been getting home in time by the skin of my teeth. last few weeks were bad for milage I had a 1200 and a 1500 mile week but this week I had over 2900 miles so I guess it averages out.
