Sometimes you are assigned your truck after three days of orientation. You have recent experience as a flatbedder, do excellent in orientation, good attitude and score high on tests, especially the driving test.

I wouldn't count on it though. Unless you are a rehire. If you're good it could happen.

When I was in orientation, my roommate left. They put a different trucker in my room, every night. I had one that was a trucker for ten years. He said, orientation was a week and he was with a trainer for a little under two weeks. That's all I know about that, I hope it helps.

Well if you were in orientation this week ending Friday January 2nd then your pay would be direct deposited on Friday January 9th, but some local banks (like mine) won't post that to your account until the next business day which is Monday January 12th.

You can drive, they say not to but Greyhound sucks and they told our class that 90% of us or more will be going home to await a trainer. So its better to drive as you will be able to go to Walmart or other stores for food or supplies, my roomate has his car here and its very very nice. Only other food choices are delivery or vending machines at night. They have a Cafe here but since I been here (1 week) its only been open 1 day and theres nothing else within walking distance.

    hi all how is everyone,

sorry i have not posted in a while. I just ended my 2nd and last week with a trainer and am waiting to upgrade into my truck. Training went very well and my trainer was very good, and a real nice guy. I have been through all of the pre-hire and still have not learned too much bad about this company. I should be out in iowa by monday and get my truck on tuesday and be ready to roll wed. Monday is a bunch of paperwork and tuesday is gettting your truck and setting everything up with load securement and making sure everything is ok with the truck and wed you get your trailer and away you go. :biggrin_25525: Well it is late and i am beat so i will be back on tomorrow so everyone have a good night and talk to you later.

    Hey guys,

Just want to say that this post is an excellent read. I appreciate all the debate and feedback posted. I am still active duty, but have the opportunity to attend school in hopes of earning my CDL.

From an outsider looking in, this post is priceless. Thanks for the time, effort, and dedication all of you put in...regardless of your company.

Hope the New Year finds you and your family's safe and prosperous.
