If Wal-Mart was phasing out it's trucking company, I doubt they'd be investing in APU units for their fleet.

I think people are right and wrong that walmart will now keep its fleet to a smaller size and bring in cheap freight companys to haul over flow loads. i think it was said that walmart knows how many loads it has 2 weeks ahead of time. the shipments are point of sale. everytime we buy something it gets ordered. the store get 1-3 gm trailers a night. 1st truck gets door one. 2nd truck is door 2 and they all take m t's. they also get a meat and produce and a frozen dairy deli truck each night. most store also get a remix truck daily. those are fast selling items that thye dont want to m t the self. it looks to me that most walmart drivers run days. so the public sees them and as the night come the owner opps and dedicated do the runs when most the public is home. thats my theory. its all about branding and images. they have a list of requiremnts that are insane you also need a hazmat. basiclly no accidents, no speeding tickets, 250,000 otr miles last 3 years and 50,000 otr miles last 6months maybe a yr. you can work a week on and a week off. slip sitting. i head those drivers make 50 - 60,000 a year for sharing equipment. i heard the regular ft drivers make over 100,000 a yr. you get mileage, activity pay, drop n hook, detention, and paid to sleep. you log what you run and the truck has a tatle tail. if you run over hours you are fired. but you can drive off duty for food as long as you notify them. the terminals have coffee, showers, fuel, truck washbays and cafertia and break rooms. they aso go with the cheapest dedicated company it seems but the wont putt all the apples in 1 basket so expect 2 dedicated companys per dc. that my friends is an inside scoop as honest and actual as i can be. night

yeah, but can anyone provide an actual LINK to their driver app? I've scoured their website and talked to their managers and nobody seems to know how a person can turn in an application...

UPDATE: I finally got word after a manager made an inquiry to higher-ups who told her that if you want to apply as a driver you have to go to the nearest Distribution Center. You can look online at Walmart.com to find the nearest one. The easiest way is to follow the links through their online application...it'll lead you to where you want to work...what state and it'll list the locations of DC's closest to you...

I went out and talked to them at a distribution center just outside of Reno, NV. They had an ad in the local paper wanting company drivers. When I got out there, they told me, no, they didn't want company drivers. Some company they have hired on was getting people to go to work for them with the "buy one of their trucks and then lease back" balogna. I don't remember the name of the company, but it is now handleing WM's trucking.
