I drove for Wal-Mart from '97ish to 2003. First I drove for the Distribution Center in Marcy, NY then when they opened the DC in Raymond, NH I was based there.

It took me about a year or so to finally get on with them after applying.

They were by far the best company I ever worked for, bar none. Very focused on Safety, almost to a fault sometimes. Very very professional, at least in the Transportation side. I know that the store employees and management are quite different, but as far as Wal-Mart Transportation, Top Notch.

Downside was the time away from home, as with all trucking jobs. The biggest fault was definitely the Health Care benefits. Pathetic coverage, and it cost a fortune. Not sure if that has been fixed yet, but that was about the only major issue I had with them. I honestly think that WM top management believed that there would be a universal healthcare program, so they waited and tried to save money.

I loved working there. Good people, a little over enthusiastic about the Wal Mart culture I think, but it was kinda funny to me. The last full year I was there I made a hair over $87,000, and that was in 2002. I would strongly encourage anyone to seek them out, you will likely never leave.

They have a wall with a picture of every driver posted with their hire date and recognitions and it seems that every driver has been their a good while. They told me to expect no less then $60,000 per year and that you will make $80,000 per year if you run 6 days per week. I will be paid every two weeks by either check or direct deposit. From all the nice new cars and trucks that the drivers have where the drivers park when there out driving, it looks as if ill do well. One driver who interviewed me stated we as drivers do well here because sam walton knew the sacrifice that drivers have to make with their families, and that sam compensated the drivers for this. I am off this week on vacation from amstan logistics and am putting in my notice to quit. I am going to take the rest of feburary off till i start driving with wal-mart. Good luck to all of you out there and god bless!
wORKING FOR WALMART IS LIKE SLAVERY....FYI

Or apply with CRE or Usxpress they have dedicated accounts with wally mart
Whoa now, your confusing Wal-Mart Transportation with Wal-Mart dedicated with a CDL mill carrier ?

How do you drive for Wal-Mart ? It helps a good deal to know a current driver. Any tickets EVER ? See ya later. Any Non-Preventables in the last few years ? See ya. Yes I said NON preventables. Only the best of the best get paid 90 grand a year for driving a truck. You don't neccasarly have to know a current driver but it helps. A squeaky clean driving record is a must though.
