| Maverick. Notarps4me u out there? I'm getting ready to go to school to get my CDL. I've applied to Maverick as well as several other companies. The top of my list is Gordon Trucking, but I see that Maverick pays really well and will hire students. However, I've read some threads on here about flatbedding that make it out to be a very difficult truck driving job. Some people have said that tarping your loads can cut into your HOS so much that there is no way to get your loads in on time. Is this true with Maverick? I'm more than willing to do the work required for flatbedding, but if I decide to go flatbed, I want to be sure that I'm picking a good company. Based on what I've seen on the website and in this forum, Maverick seems to be one of the better flatbed companies, but I want to get the word from Maverick drivers. Thanks. |

| I am happy with them. Flats are not the only thing that can cut into to your time. Try live loading or unloading a box. That can take a lot longer than what it takes me to load and secure and tarp. Even drop and hook can be time consuming. I always seem to get a trailer that had flats or the lights didn't work or both. If I was worried about HOS I would not even think about trucking. Just waking up and having a normal day can interfere with HOS.

| Tarping takes time. Waiting at a grocrey warehouse can take allot more time lol. I will stick with my flat. Others can have the box. Just finishing up a really bad winter. It sucked up here. More snow than usual, and we usually get allot. I am waiting for spring, but with spring comes tarping in the rain and wind. Also not fun. Get on a box and you can be clean and get fat. Get on a flat and you can get dirty and do some physical work some days. |

| where does maverick have orientation? I might try one more flatbed company before I decide to let my CDL expire and get out of trucking all together. I'm not even going to bother applying to a van company - I'd starve to death working for one. |

if u done flat you'll have to learn 'their way'....but they are good at training.... -bus ticket out and back from orientation- 1 free meal day, room, pay orientation/training both aren't a bad gig....enjoyed it. maybe notarp have more to say for ya....thrown' out my 2 on it.
