Who Is your Trainer?

I have been with Transport America for about 6 months now and when I went through training I also had the same problem with my trainer. Everyday he would rewrite our logs and lie. He was rude and disrespectful and all he had to do was sit In that seat and watch me for over a month. He was making over $1500 a week while I did all the work and he sat In that seat and played games and sleep and rewrote logs so he could make as much off of me as possible. I am better now that I am on my own but I am finding out all of these little things about this company that I don't like. Also for the record, If you want to make It out there I have learned that you do have to lie a little but nothing like the trainers have you do..
I'll private message you his name. I won't say it on here because I have some decency, unlike him. In case anyone else is worried about getting this guy, he's a trainer out of the North Liberty, IA terminal, and he really likes the Green Bay Packers. If you get him, get out.

Can any of you, Transport America drivers, tell me if you have to load / unload a lot? I was hoping to apply to this co. but found out they require one to lift 60 lbs above the head. I am a skinny (110 lbs female)… even if I pass the lifting test (I’ve been working on it), don’t think will be able to be loading and unloading much. Can you tell me how much loading / unloading you have to do by yourself? Thx.

I've been there 6 months and have not had to unload a trailer myself yet.

I can't send a private message but I got yours and It Is not the same trainer and I had the same exp with my trainer as I said before.. I also won't say his name on here because I have some decency, unlike him but It Is not a unwritten company policy and as I said I learned very quick as soon as I got on my own that you have to mess with your logs If you want to make money and not run out of hours quickly but then again nothing like mine or your trainer was doing. Such as logging the miles you run Instead of the hours.. That will help alot.

You don't have to lift it over your head, just to shoulder height. They start out at 30lbs and have you lift it onto a shelf and then back down. Then they keep adding 10lbs until you get to 60lbs. When I say shoulder height I mean the height from the ground to the back of the trailer, that's what it is supposed to simulate, I guess.

As far as I could tell there was very little unloading. Even if you unload it's almost certainly going to be with a pallet jack, not just lifting. They pay you 100$ if you have to unload, if you ever got into that situation and didn't think you could unload, you could try to pay a lumper the $100. I doubt you would ever get into that situation though.

With this company can you be home every weekend as a company driver?

What do they pay their new drivers with less than 6 mo. experience?

"home on weekends" as an industry term pretty much means home for the 34 hour restart.

Some of this depends on where you live, how freight is rolling.

Starting with Transport America, 3 day orientation report

I have just left SNI after 9 months, and am going to start at TA. Since most of the posts about it are from new driver orientation, I figured that I would give experienced drivers the low-down on the 3 day orientation. I will be starting on 03/17 so once I get settled in I will post an update. You all stay safe out there!
