You wont make a dime your first year. You will live off the $105 personal advance week to week for your first 6 months most likely.

IF you get based in memphis, get out of there. Im from TN, but got based out of Denver. They at least treat ya like people, rather than cattle. Find a good terminal and call it home, it doesnt matter where you are based. I've been to Denver maybe 5 times in over 2 years.

when i drove for swift, denver was one of my favorite terminals. their shop seemed to be light years ahead of the other shops' "mechanics" and actually did some work on the trucks. each time my truck was at the denver shop, the problems actually got fixed, and never became a repeated issue.

oh yeah, and the terminal people never treated drivers like they were only another number. the same goes for the OKC terminal. quite a few kickbutt loads were hauled out of there, too.

memphis is a rubbish terminal. lots of sitting is done there. lots of stupid people to deal with, and the burger king across the street had some crazy stuff going on during the night time.

My experience with Swift seems to be greatly different than some other people. We are making good money as newbies and we've been treated well. Of course we're new, so time will tell.

My suggestion is that you read all the swift threads, then ask for comments from those in your area. Perhaps experiences are different depending on the school and home terminals.

My experience is with the school in Phoenix and my home terminal is Phoenix as well.

Found out today, through a preplan to NY, that im a 48 driver again...

Took me months of wrangling with my DM and fleet manager to get into 910. (Northing Northeast of PA). Swift dropped to 3 zones tho, apparently. And since I live in tennessee, and even though I havent taken hometime there since Christmas, I cant just stay out west. ... Even though im based out of denver, lol.

I should just become a team driver with someone who likes this eastern crap. *sigh*

I don't hate the swift experience...

    Not all the time anyway.

41,000 miles in 6 months is a bit ridiculous, though.

What pisses me off is that in the 2 and a half years I've worked for them, I've taken less than 30 days hometime. I don't hassle them about loads, unless it gets to a certain point, and all i ask is that they keep me the #### out of the Northeast.

I don't know what I'm supposed to do to get more than 1600 miles or so a week. I haven't had a late load since swift started sending those little congratulatory messages out a few months ago.

Until last month my DCI was under 6%.
I've never failed an inspection, never have any violations, and had 1 accident that literally took an hour to fix up. (sucked a small, square haybail under my truck and tore out some hoses).

1 overweight ticket almost 2 years ago to date when i was a green newb.

I just CAN'T get swift to treat me better. And I automatically become the bad guy when I ask for something better. I get that they got like 17,000 drivers asking that. But... to be honest... I think i ####### deserve it at this point.
