IDC

I went to Interstate because I heard great things.... Well,, they have nice equipment, THATS IT... The pay isnt very good and I sat alot, trying to get miles plus there customers are retail (malls and enoogh said). If your TEAM then go IDC... If your solo, then think twice if money is an issue, they could care less if your sitting. Good Luck

Our company recently changed Pet policy and needless to say, we're looking to change. However, in general, the company we work for is good and take care of their drivers.

Does Interstate have APU's?

Thank you for your time.
PINE- are you currently driving for Crete? Ive heard they are going to reverse there pet policy again since alot of drivers have put in notices to quit.

Yes, we are driving for Crete. Right now I have my dog with a friend and looking to change companies. However it's hard to find a good company as good as Crete. Thanks for the heads up on the pet policy.

If your running team then you might do well at Interstate.... Interstate is very team oriented but be advised they are nothing like Crete. Interstate pay is low, there customers dont come close to Cretes. Interstate wants there customers happy THEN the driver. Plus they dont pay detention to the driver. Interstate does alot of retail stores/outlets. Interstate wants you to put in your PTA every 12 hours on the qualcomm or you wont get a load or planned. You can have the same load for 5 days and they still want you to punch in your ETA and PTA twice a day (dont ask why). But they do have nice trucks as far as the comforts go.

I agree about IDC being a primarily Team Oriented company, although now that freight is picking up the solo drivers will see more miles as well. But solo drivers do spend a lot of time bumping docks.

I've been with Interstate for almost a year, my first OTR job. Here's some notes.

The pay is decent for new drivers and teams, you could find higher pay if you have some experience. The benefits are good, Aetna health, vision, and dental. $80/month for a single person.

The miles are good. I run all 48 and average 2500-3500/week. It just depends on how long you sit at docks. You get $10 for bumping a dock on load or unload.

Getting loads is easier if you are willing to take anything, and don't turn anything down. I have not turned down a load, and I usually get my next load before I reach my destination. If I do a few 500 or less mile trips, I always get a load with lots of miles shortly after.

The equipment is fairly nice, Freightliner or Volvo. I sure hope I get an APU before the cold hits. I have a fridge though, and it's an automatic. Their driver facilities in Tacoma, WA, Troutdale, OR, Fontana, CA, and Lebanon, TN are very nice. They all have big screens in the lounge, with workout rooms, free laundry, showers, and free wifi.

The drivers are friendly.

If your OTR, you'll be out 14, 21 days, or longer, it's your choice. You'll be out west a lot, but they do have runs east.

I heard they stopped hiring drivers with no experience, but I know how much experience you need to get hired.

Any questions? I'd be happy to tell you more about IDC.

I have to agree with you Marketeer about IDC being a good compnay. The only real gripe I had was getting the miles. They had me a 500 mile box. I just left them a few months ago after being there for a year and I can count on one hand how many times I got 2500miles or more. And I hardly ever had a load waiting for me.

1 year down

Well we finished our first year with IDC and are still pretty happy with IDC. We now have a good FM who takes care of us and while no company is absolutely perfect we have very few complaints. As a matter of fact, I'm going to give my tractor one more good polishing job while we are home and join the Pride In Your Ride program.
