They were "down and going"

I made that phone call to Navajo about ten years ago. Not only was Navajo not an "up and coming" company, there were pretty much "down and going", as in their drivers were always "down" and "going". And, like all bottom-feeders, Navajo hasn't changed a lick the last ten years.

No, my hometown's nowhere in sight

Re: Interstate's a decent place to be.

Hubby just started with Interstate this week.
They are flying him from Nashville, Tn to Denver tomorrow to pick up his truck.
Hopefully we will be happier with this company then we were at Navajo!
Sure can't be much worse!

Good luck there

Good luck with Interstate. I assume the truck your husband's picking up is at a terminal and isn't an abandoned ride sitting at a truckstop.

Interstate? I may look into them.

Portland, Interstate is now on my list of companies I'll look into when I get back to the USA. I've been thinking of moving to the Northwest, and getting a job at Interstate might be pretty cool, at least by the sound of it.

Do they have any training available? I've got 3 years experience (about 350K miles) doing OTR, but I've been out for over 3 years. Also, I'd need to get my CDL back. This shouldn't be too hard, but I won't spend more than about 600-700 on getting it back. I had my pockets thoroughly picked by my first driving school. Never again.

Thanks

Talking Re: Interstate's a decent place to be.

Hubby started with Interstate on July 24th, so far we like it.
The company seems to care about their drivers, the trucks are nice, and the 2007's WOW!
Of course I know a nice truck doesn't pay the bills but so far each of hubby's check have been almost double what he was making at Navajo.
He doesn't have to sit at a dock as long, and the pay is better.
Just counting our blessings because so far things are starting to get better.
This pass year has really been a hard one for our family.
One thing after another happened.
First an Uncle had Throat cancer, then Hurricane Katrina which effected most of our family on my side and hubby's side of the family.
Father in law passed away, brother in law OD'D and one brother in law and close and a close friend were accused and arrested for cruelty to the infirm, against brother in law's son, sexual abuse. They are both out on bond, well one of them pleaded out.
Things are finally starting to change, Thank God!
Sorry to ramble !
