I never had work done in Fontana.
In SLC or Conley you get a room in the terminal if one is available. If not they will get you a hotel room. In Fontana, Irving, and Henderson they have no rooms, so when the maintenance dept. realizes you will not have a truck to sleep in for the night (after 4pm) they are supposed to get you the paper and send in the request.

Issues with the truck that will not affect its driving ie: load delivery, and are not safety issues they will try and have you do at a terminal. If you can make it a safety issue though, it can get done on the road.
I never had many issues with them. If it was a safety issue, and they tried to make me wait, I would refuse, talk to safety and get it done. This is the case with Air leakes, bad tires, brakes, ect.

Try to always talk to your dispatcher and work out a way to get these resolved when not under load. It is not good to put the truck down under load. If you can get the load off safe, then do it.

At Irving the shop manager was usually proactive on getting rooms. Ask him for the paper before the students leave for the day, that way your ride will be there and no hassle is needed.

If you are on the road you are supposed to send a mac to OTRM, if the truck is in a garage and cannot send a message you just call them. They will have already agreed to the repairs, so they know you are at a shop. You let them know how much the room is.
They will send a PO and comcheck number to your truck, so it is in writing when you have access. But on the phone they will give you the numbers also. So you can get the room.

Any work that I know may be warrentee work I have done on the road. Water pump, EGR valve, things of that nature. These things will be fixed within hours on the road, but will take days at a terminal. If at the terminal they will have to send the truck to a dealer to get the work done. In the areas we have our terminals in though there will be a waiting list to get in the dealerships.
On the road you are usually in the door within an hour.

And stand up for it, there's no reason to sit all night or pay for a room yourself if it's Central's problem.

Not the trucking companies fault. It's the shipper this time. He can't believe the luck he is having but he was laughing about it.
Was he on time? was it more than 4 hours? If so, have him send in a mac 53, with the amounts blank, stating load number, time he showed up, his appt time, and when he finally made it out of there, plus his driver code. He can get detention pay. He'll have to call Xpay in a few days and make sure they're working on it, but he can get paid for the time.

There numbering system. first number 2 is a 2005.
You had a good fleet manager, I used to have to battle with mine to get any sort of pay, including not home on time pay.

2 series aren't all 2005 trucks, 21XXX are '04s and 22 are 05s, but the rest can vary. I met two people with 04 volvos last year.

They didn't start the first number is the year trick until the 6 series trucks, and even then that's not a guarantee of the year of the truck. We recovered an 8 series truck that was an 05 a couple months ago.

Oh well. I was wrong. I assumed that they were in order after they went to 6 series.
My 22 was an 05 model, that they bought in 04. My 62 was an 06 bought in 05.
I do know that all numbers from 62 on up have an under bunk heater. It is wonderful with cold weather coming. And I have checked on several trucks with TAS, if you have it on engine mode (thermostat off) so that it just charges the battery and keeps engine at 70 degrees, your qualcom will not register it as idle time.
I did this all last winter and had a 0.1 idle average for months, and I was never cold.

Thanks for the tip on the TOS Crome. Will let him know. As for Wayne, he is in Oklahoma right now he is waiting for the first part of his unload. He is dropping 5 pallets there and then the rest goes to Indiana. Yes, after waiting all those hours, he was on time. He was in town by 6pm last night.
His truck is a 2005 Volvo with 650,xxx on it. They told him they'd get him a new one in Nov....Yeah, right. They have new trucks sitting in SLC from what he heard, but they are for lease only. No one is wanting to lease i guess. He has had a little good luck with the truck though on his way. He found out, it isn't governed at 62....lol...It is still at 65.
As for the motel room. He found out too late about paying for it. He talked to his DM the next day and he told him if he had contacted them, they would have gotten him a room, and they will not reimburse him. I guess you live and learn.
So far, he has detention pay coming, on time load and multiple stop pay. I hope they get it right.

Well, Central has screwed up again. Yesterday, Wayne still had his load to drop off and they messeged him about a new load. He was scheduled to drop off his load last night at midnight. They wanted him to turn around and pick up another load at 8am this morning heading for PA. He told them he would be out of hours and he wouldn't have time to get the load but they don't want to listen. The new load was supposed to be dropped in PA by 5pm today. But they also schduled another load for him to pick up at 3pm???? WTF? How can you be at 2 places at once? He figured it up and it will take him, 9 hours to get it to where it needs to be. They told him they would try to get him offloaded last night early so he would have time. Well, that didn't happen. They didn't get him unloaded until, 3am! After unloading, he has to wash out the trailer....Which the closest place is 45 minutes from there. So it would take him 1 1/2 hours to get back and get that load. So, that leaves him about 3 hours sleep for the day after driving 11 hours. He contacts them and told them he can't do it....again and how is he supposed to get 2 loads at once? They told him, too bad, you have to take it. Well, he is pretty ticked off right now. He is stuck with a load that they know is gonna be late and he is tired as hell, and still expect him to pick up this other load...with a imaginary extra truck and driver i guess, and deliver it too by tomorrow. He was yelling so bad i couldn't catch a lot of it. When he contacted his DM again about the over lapping loads, he was told it was plannings fault. Well, what does that do for him?

Well, Wayne is better now. They took the second load off of him and given it to someone else. The first load he still has. It will be late, but not go against him. They said he was the only one in the area to take it. It will be a couple hours late, but oh well.

Hey Lastkid good to see ya

As for loads I just did a 33 hr. run from Hamilton OH to Huston TX down 59 off the 30. It's a good thing I'm paper still as for loads what will they do when were all paperless and the qualcom sounds off when your out of hrs.
What they need to do is have the planners all go to the class that way the'll under stand I HAVE NO HOURS left. Teams and trainers will do well but a solo driver will not they will place more time into the drop giv'n us a day off with no pay may'b even two. They say there loads are set up at 50 miles an hr. so 1050 times 50 equals 52.50 hrs for a solo driver. This load was 1050 miles in 33 hrs 36 if you count loading. I'm sitting here with no time left to even move the truck so I will *** a bit to limp to a T/S and sit can't drive till 10/10 to stay with'n my hrs. left. I don't mind run'n but I need to be more leagl. Anyhow thats what I have to say about it hope things get better for your hubby...............................
