| They are just short on company trucks, as usual. Talk to the head of dispatch, or maintanance and see if you can go recover a truck that you can then use. That is how I got mine. They are buying allot of lease trucks, but they have no plan to buy anymore company trucks till the end of the year or beginning of next year.(this is the last I heard). Even though all the 21 and 22 series trucks are to be traided in this year. This is going to take a few hundred trucks out of the fleet. I heard last summer that they had reached there goal of having 40% lease ops, and 60% company drivers. There next goal is to get that to 60% lease op, 40% company driver. If they reach that number they will not replace the trucks they are traiding at all. This really irritates me allot. They need to take care of there company drivers better where equipment is concerned. We need the new trucks, and diserve the new trucks as much as the lease ops. On accounts like mine there are not many owner ops, because the miles are not as high as full otr. I am expected to keep my idle under 20% a week, with less rolling. This was easy in the winter with the under bunk heater. It will not happen this summer. I will be comfortable when I sleep and when I am sitting at shippers and recievers. I have already told my fleet manager this. So I will wait and see what he says when I am back around 25 to 30% this month. If they complain I will swap to a new company. Even though I have liked this one allot, and I do all I can to save them money. With the current prices of fuel an APU is no longer an option on these company trucks, it is manditory. If they will not get them and will not let me idle for what is needed, I will leave. I keep my AC set so it will start the truck when it reaches 80 degrees, when I am in the bunk. So far the last few days that has = to allot of hours. I don't think that wanting to keep my sleeper under 80 is a bad choice. We will see. Sorry for the rant. I am just frustrated. Mad that I am wasting this fuel sitting here, but having no choice. Have a good day. |

I thought they still had to get a 100 new Volvo's to finish there contract with Volvo, or are the new Volvo's only going to be for L/O??????? I run my own Internet Business and you should have heard me on Tuesday night if you think you had a rant . I bet JJ was like OMG since my rant was at him over the phone LOL. |

| They are trying to get drivers to lease all the new volvos on a 2 year deal, with lower payments. I have been in Volvo shops though, and allot of 08, 09 trucks are there with issues. I dont think I would want one. I was told several months ago that in the maint. meeting they plan to buy APU's for the new company trucks when they get them. Central is part of the ATA though, and they will not buy till they get the bill thru that they are pushing now to get bigger tax breaks on them. They already get them cheap enough that they should put on all trucks they plan to keep more than 18 months. They will pay for themselves quickly. |

while try'n to sleep. No APU's and vary little idle time man thats HOT. Every company would like to have a reserve of drivers and with times as they are everyone cutt'n back most company's will still hire, as to when you would get a truck could be a day after train'n or a week maybe even one of those old 900's would be sitting there wait'n for ya.I'm sure things will be fine I worry more about the heat if I get to hot I might melt
