Actually Central is owned by the guy that owns swift. It is a completely separate company. That is why a few years ago when Jerry was not the owner of swift for a short time, he was still the owner of Central. Separate company, run differently. He will share resources when it can save eather company money, epically since he owns 100% of swift again, buy I doubt they will ever combine. As for the home time thing. I would plan on staying out 3-4 weeks at a time then taking 3 or 4 days off. This way he will still get good miles. If they are constantly working to get him headed toward home his miles will be low, and his pay will match it. As has been said many times, trucking is a lifestyle not a job. If you need to be home allot then being an over the road driver is not for you. There are good driving jobs that will get you home allot more, but most of them require 1-3 years over the road first. If he pays his dues out here then later he can have the cake job making the same money or more. Also, if you are in or around salt lake he can work over the road for a while, then if a local or regional job opens in that area with the company he can try for that. When a driver gets over a year with central they are a long term employee. Most by then quit or go owner op, in which case they are a contractor and not an employee. Good luck, whatever you decide to do.

Or, they decided the guy who works security there and drives the shuttle on weekends was spending too much time on it.

BIG Question The other half and I are interested in getting into the trucking field as a team, We are looking hard at Central because of their training. My question is...how do they train teams? Do they put us into a truck together with a trainer or do we get split up? No biggee if we do cuz I'm a big girl now but if they do split us will I get a female trainer? Dunno if I want to spend 4 weeks out on the road with a strange man.
