| He might be there depends on how long he needs to wait for a trainer so I would guess he would be there.

| They will train teams together. The only time I saw one split was because the trainer one was to go with had a T2000, and one of the team members was too big for the truck. He had to train in a volvo, and none was available for several days. Also, both were doing refreshers, and the larger driver had more experience. I have not seen them split a husband wife team though. You need to learn to drive in shifts, and to prove that you can. So training as a team is much better. |

| MizB, I want you to know that hometime will be all right. Central cannot GUARANTEE hometime because they do not have any control over weather, shippers, etc. But I have never had any trouble getting my home time and Killer B shouldn't either. Chromedome, you are right about the Swift/Central connection. A very well thought out post as usual. Jess-JuJu, good luck to you both! I like your new signature Sixpack, I noticed your new avetar right away. I love it!!!! Last edited by Lastkidpicked; 06.12.2008 at 11.58 AM. |

| I am on my way back to Atlanta again. PU in Chicago as soon as unloaded here, and deliver tomorrow afternoon. My wife and I had hoped for a run thru the house, she is not happy. Has been 3 weeks now, and may not get to see her till vacation in Florida at the end of the month. But when I request a week of paid vacation i cannot feel right begging him for a run thru home before it. Well, unloaded now, see you later |

I'll go ahead and tell the whole story, and I hope I don't bore anybody to sleep: I started driving for Simon on September 12, 1998. I was assigned a tractor with 660,000 miles on it and it was the first truck I ever drove with air conditioning. I thought I was in heaven!! Central bought us four years later. During the transition, I got a qualcomm that said, "you have been assigned a brand new truck. Next time thru SLC you can pick it up." THere it was, my brand new truck, with the plastic still on the seats. It was a thing of beauty and it was the last shipment to have the SWEET SIMON logos on it, even tho now all the trailers had Central Logos. I'll never forget fuelling that truck up the first time. The cashier asked how many miles and I said, "42". SHe said "42 what? Thousand, million, what?" and I grinned from ear to ear and said "42 miles total" I felt like king of the world. Fast forward 2 years and I recieved a message that I was going to upgrade to a new truck again because mine had been sold. I brought my truck to SLC and asked what they were going to do with it. They said they were selling them to a dealer for $20,000 each. I about cried! My truck that I remembered being brand new was going to be sold for $20k? I said, "I'll buy it and go local with it" Central said, "Okay. Here's the name of the dealer." I bought the truck, drove it back home to Colorado, and I still run it. That is my story of how I started at Simon, went through the bankruptsy, and was adopted by Jerry Moyes and Central Refridgerated. I always came in at the tail end of all these events, and that is the reason for my screen name. Hope you enjoyed the story, Lastkidpicked, Still Driving Simon (Central) tractor 1357. |
