I am running around WI. Deadhead from this darn WM DC as soon as they are done. Load up and run to Springfield MO.
Then deadhead to Granite City IL.
Granite City-> Avon NY.
Avon NY -> Independence MO
Independence MO -> Granite City -> Avon NY again.

That is my plans till next Friday. Already preset.
The deadhead miles are about 600 miles, and about 3500 loaded. I really don't like running that hard, but I am going to need a reset after this, and I am at my home end when I get it. I will just barely have the hours to get it done and make it to home.
You do have a busy week! You were spot on about Columbia they unload in the order that the drivers hand in there paperwork.
We think our Load back will be to WVC as JJ still needs to do his Evaluation and then hopefully a longish trip and then home for a few on the 6th August.

We have a schreiber load on now 79000lbs a few scale tickets later and a few hrs idling to burn of some fuel we finally got the weights right lol.

I cheat on scaleing.
I will put the tandems all the way back or forward and watch the tilt of the trailer, and feel the weight drag.
If you have them all the way back for an example, you will see the front of the trailer come up as you slide them forward, when it stalls for about 6-12 inches of slide it is balanced. You will feel the resistance ease at this point also, on a heavy load.
Then all I have to do is scale it to check my work. I am never off more than 1 hole though, and unless it is a very heavy load it is always legal.
Mostly I don't bother to scale loads anymore unless they are over 40k. Or if it just is not riding right.

The watching the trailer trick has saved me a few times though, when I have a heavy load and no place to scale it before I get to a scale house.
I have had to cross the Jersey scale on 76 several times leaving Bethlehem with 43k++ loads. One time I was over by 120 lbs, but they let me pass. The TA is at the next exit. That was on a 43k load on a rail trailer though.

Husband looking into Central

My husband as been approved for this company and would start training the 4th of August. I have been reading a lot on here and learning a lot but i still would like to ask a few questions? Once, you start training, how long until you get your first paycheck? Also, do you goto the DMV to take road test or do they come to the school? I have been reading so much my eyes are going cross....lol...I have been looking to see how the new students have done and if they like it there. Also, is anyone else planning on going to school in UT on this date? Hopefully my husband has a good experience there. Thanks all.

The road test is done by the instructors at the school (third party). You go to DMV twice, once to take the permit test and once to get your final license. You get paid once you get on the trainers truck. $100 for orientation, $425 for the first 2 weeks then goes to $500 for the last 2 weeks. You are not paid while attending the 2 week school. Hope that helps.....

Dragonmatrix, did you ever get a trainer? We are also from Laughlin, but in Elko for now. Does it always take so long to get a trainer? I was just wondering if you get paid weekly or every 2 weeks? With him being a electrician, we are used to a weekly paycheck....lol...I was up until 4am reading all this last night. He is nervous about going, but he really wants out of construction.

OK, my hubby's recruiter just called "Sarah". He is set to leave Saturday on the bus and start Monday. He picks up his ticket tomorrow. I was just wondering how long it takes to get a first paycheck from training? Thanks.
Hey Bre, he will be there Saturday. He does have to do training though....lol...

I did have trainer right after orientation, but I had to go home because my wife hurt herself. I am going back this week. You get paid about a week or two after your get on the trainers truck and the $100 for orientation will be available right away. Orientation is Mon. through Wed. We had trainers by Wednesday afternoon, we didnt wait at all.

Takes 2 weeks for pay to really get going. But after that the direct deposit will kick in.
Pay is weekly. Once on his own truck pay is every week, as long as he turns in his paperwork on time. Pay period is for all loads delivered on or before Wednesday of the prior week.
I am actually behind at the moment. I have about 6000 miles worth of loads here I need to get in today. I forgot last week.
I sure wish I was a recruiter lol. Getting paid to help people out with the real facts.
Oh wait.... they are not supposed to tell you the real facts.
