Do you have to have direct deposit into a checking account or can you just have it put onto a card for you? We have a visa that we usually have everything loaded on. He is really nervous now....lol....He is supposed to pick up the ticket in the morning. He hates being away from us but this is what we need to do. I have high hopes he really enjoys driving.

Pay is weekly. Once on his own truck pay is every week, as long as he turns in his paperwork on time. Pay period is for all loads delivered on or before Wednesday of the prior week.
I am actually behind at the moment. I have about 6000 miles worth of loads here I need to get in today. I forgot last week.
I sure wish I was a recruiter lol. Getting paid to help people out with the real facts.
Oh wait.... they are not supposed to tell you the real facts.
Thats is so true, dont know how many times I heard, the recruiter never told me that? How do you know when a recruiter is lying? A. They are talking..

Its tough being away from home and your family, just stay in contact via phone or texting. While hes there, tell him not to listen to the whiners that are at the terminal day after day complaining of no loads, theres a reason they have no loads, these guys stand out right away. I talked to quite a few drivers and I would say tell him to do his own research on miles, money, etc. Just my two cents and observations.......

That's why all the smarter ones are looking for info on here and not asking a recruiter .
Today was a good day!!!!!!! Delivered our load and got a new one from Galveston TX, as we were coming back to Houston JJ was like there's a Whale and I was like Bull crap but there was. I wish we could have stopped so I could get some Pictures.

We are on our way to CalicommiFornia, pretty good miles 1565 miles and delivers on Thursday 0630 , so not much time wasted on this trip.

While you are talking about paychecks, there is something to watch out for:

Chrome is correct that you will be paid for loads turned in by Wednesday. But make sure you budget carefully, because sometimes you are on a good long load that doesn't get turned in until later in the week. That means that a big chunk of money will come a week behind.

It all evens out in the end, but just be ready for it when you are budgeting your money.

OK thanks, i will tell him. I came on this board to get info and meet some of the drivers before he leaves. His recruiter is very nice and has answered everything we have asked her but sometimes, you need to hear it from the "horses" mouth as they say. I seen somewhere they charge you for locks? What is up with that and how much do they take from your check for it? We just want to be prepared as much as possible.

When I started, they charged you for your load locks and they also held out money as a deposit to make sure you clean out your truck when you return it-- similar to a damage deposit when you rent a house.

They way they did it back then is they held out $30 a week or so for a few weeks until they have what they want.

A piece of advice for you on this: When you do turn in your truck, don't just park it and leave the keys. Have ORTM inspect your truck and give you a copy showing that you returned it clean and have the load locks on back.

THe deposits just showed up on my final check. I didn't even have to ask for it.
