Papco Transportation

I started my job this past monday. Well its almost a week and so far its great. OK, I know its only one week so no one has to tell me to wait till 6 months. Anyhow, They treat you good, no BS. Dispatch you every night around 4 to 6 PM for the next day. Oh, PAPCO TRANSPORTATION out of Bridgton NJ, we haul propane, butane. I haul Propane. I keep the truck, its a Peterbuilt with a sleeper. Shes an oldie but a goodie! I avarge 10 to 12 hours a day. I pick up in Linden NJ (right now) and deliver up state NY ( where I live). Im paid hourly and loving it. Right now home every day and weekends off. This will all change in the winter. But what a way to live, drive a big truck for a good company, home every night, paid by the hour. They pay O/T after 52 hours. You get paid straight time for the 52. What else can I tell you's, HUMMM. Im sure you have questions and or comments. So go ahead and shoot!

Depending on what they pay you an hour, you might be losing money. If you work 5/10 hour days, you're getting hosed. No overtime until 52 hours? 12 hour days would help but that only equates to 8 hours of overtime pay when you worked 60 hours in one week. Not telling you to quit with the way the economy is but this sounds like the employer makes out in this deal a little to much.

Problem with truckin we dont have the same rights as others so as always we do get screwed with overtime and other benefits. But thats about normal for local work on the overtime anywhere its usualy after 50+

Getting paid by the hr for all work done, drive, load, unload is better the cpm.. When your in traffic, no need to rush as you still getting paid. If you get paid cpm, and in traffic you get paid nothing.. So how do you figure your getting hosed, your a student, and unless you have specific info you would like to share, then your response is mute at best.

Pull a tank for a good company and that doesn't happen. If I get stuck in a traffic jam I immediately look at my watch, note the time I stopped and the time I start moving again. I turn in those hours rounded to the nearest .25 and get paid for them. Traffic delays actually help my paycheck since I will still turn the same number of miles paid cpm anyway and generally don't run much over 500 miles a day.
