Just started driving for these guys.Seems like a pretty good outfit. They have about 130 trucks/drivers and a small terminal/shop in Versailles,Ohio. It's a family run business with dad running the show and 3 kids working there. They all seem like nice people and are pretty up front about things. So far I really like it.They have Freightliners and Internationals. All are autoshift and they pull dry vans.Only thing I can find to gripe about is the Eaton Vorad system kicking on the engine brake to slow me down and 61mph trucks.Other than that so far it's great. They keep me moving and I'm home on weekends. This was my first full week with them and I got just over 2600 miles.Left home Monday around 1pm and got home late Friday night. They pay by loads delivered as in you put in your empty call on the Aether (like QualComm) and it goes on that check.Pay is from Saturday night midnight to following Sat. Midnight.Payday is Tues. They have diesel fired bunk heaters and the trucks will not idle between temperatures of 15F and 75F. If it's over or under those temps the trucks will idle and not shut off till you turn it off or run out of fuel.Like I said it seems like a pretty good outfit. I got in the truck on a Wednesday afternoon for my first load and my birthday was the following Sunday and the owner's son even sent me a msg in the truck on that friday saying "I see that your birthday is Sunday and I would like to wish you a happy birthday and hope you have a great weekend" I thought that was awesome. So far I would advise anyone in the hiring area looking for a driving job to think about these guys.Their site has the hiring areas and all that stuff. No I'm not a recruiter or anything just a driver who is actually happy with the company they work for.I hope this helps anyone out there who is looking for work.Oh and they will have another driver pick you up for orientation and they put you up in a nice hotel in town and you can go to a sports bar down the street and order food on their tab.Freakin awesome.Just don't order beer on their tab I heard someone got canned for that lol that's just common sense though.Orientation was like a day an a half an was easy. They will set you up for a DOT physical if you need it.Anyways I'll ####.Hope this helps guys an gals.

Is Pohl still a good place to work? I know something about thousands of companies over my years of driving, but I don't know any real info about Pohl.

Look on the webpage for their running area.It looks like mostly east of the Mississippi and for me so far it's been around Ohio,Kentucky,Pennsylvania,New York (not the city) and now loaded to Chicago area with a 2 stopper. So far I like it pretty well. They keep me running like I said and are good people. They don't give you any crap out there on the road.I only hear from them when they are sending me a load assignment, fleet msgs, and the daily fuel prices where it's cheap and they would prefer you fuel. You can fuel al I think all Pilots and a lot of Flying Js,Some Petros and TAs and Love's as a secondary fuel stop if there's nothing else around. So far it's great.Like I said 61mph trucks that's hard to get used to and that danged Vorad but if that's the biggest thing I can find to gripe about that really ain't bad!Look up their website for more info.Just google it cause I don't think the mods would like me putting the web address in here.just search "Pohl Transportation Versailles Ohio" and it'll be right there.

I worked for Pohl a few years ago..At first I liked them to but I found out they didn't fit me personaly..Then they run almost all East coast which wasn't bad due to the miles were good but I do like to go west and south now and then..The other reason I left was I got a speeding ticket and was told I was doing 67..I just stated rolling and the trucks won't go that fast..I ask the Safety guy to give me anything that shows what the trucks are set at and he would't even talk to me and kept avoiding me..I didn't ask him to do anything Illegal just help me out with a print out on my truck..

ya i just started with these guys also..looks like that they arent to bad, trucks only go 61 mph with cruise on and 58 with it off,a lot of safety crap on the truck though, such as the sensor on the front that will automatically slow the truck down if the vehicle in front of u isnt 300 feet away...( ya that kinda sucks)..i found out why the company is actually hiring and its because they just had a big driver pay cut not long ago and a bunch of guys quit, the terminal sits way out in nowhere land and seems to be a pain in the butt to get to( especially now that there is a detour setup for a bridge being out)..they dont pay u for orientation but they do pay for your meals( wich are very good) u can drink some beers at the bar while your in orientation( as long as u pay for it out of your pocket) nice little bar and a very nice hotel as well and orientation dosnt go 3 days like most companies do, its only 1 day and ahalf day, everyone seems really nice at the company, but thats about all i know, o yea and they do have a trucker pick ya up and take yato versailes, so thas pretty cool, but the one major thing that sucks is how slow the trucks are, and they are auto shift...man u just cant make good time in a truck that goes 61mph and slows down every time that a car jumps in front of u....and also,,the trucks do not idle at all, after 3 minutes they shut down, theres another gadget that will heat and cool the bunk...lol but heck i dont know how to use it yet, i will leave feedback whenever i find out more

been here a full week..pretty good company..i was delivering a load on friday in chester new york, and my next load picked up in manchester new hampshire delivering into kentucky on monday morn, buti called dispatch and said hay if this load delivers monday, and im not getting home till saturday, thas no home time, so they pushed the delivery time till tuesday,( with no prblem at all), , i dunno but it seems like a pretty good company to me, but if the trucks were faster that would be great

Well I worked for pohl over 10 years ago and they were a good company then. I left because I got tired of running nothing but New England and NY. Back then the trucks ran 68 I think and had manual trans.
