If I where you I would run for the hills- C.R. England is the bottom of the barrel- You would be better off working for Mcdonalds and be home everyday and more than likely make more money- I would do that until economy picked up and then tried something different- Thats better than going in the whole working for C.R. ENgland- They are by far one of the worst to work for- Just read the other threads on this board-

Truck driving is a trade to be learned. Learning to drive is is more than a formality to getting a job quickly. If you take that point of view, you will
get burned and probably take others with you.

Look at any other trade that people get into when they change carrers. Plumbing, electrician, nursing, HVAC, etc., all of these things take time and commitment to learning the trade. Why is trucking different? If anything, it should take longer to get a CDL, as you are putting so many lives at risk during the course of your daily duties.

If you can't 'take your time with it' and do it correctly, then you should look into another carreer, irregardless of how badly or quickly you need a job. That kind of disrespect for the trade is exactly what is wrong with the industry.

Dan,

If the mill thing does not work out you are much better off going to Swift than CRE. Good Luck and keep us updated on what you do.

It is hard to get hired with no experience and no pretty piece of paper from a CDL school. I was very fortunate when I got my CDL, I was still in the Army going to school a State sponsored school at night. I think my total out of pocket expenses was like $366 and when I sold my text book that I paid $35 for I got $20 of it back. I wish you the best of luck and please keep us posted to see what you decide.
