Hi, my name is Dan, and I am 25 years old. School didn't quite work out for me, and I have always had a fascination with trucking, and have been considering getting my CDL and starting. On Monster, I came across an advertisement for CR England, and spoke to my recruiter today. He was very eager (it's friday, he asked me if I could be on a bus to Dallas on Sunday). I did some research, and found that trucking school generally ranges from 2500-4k, so the 3k financed seemed pretty reasonable.

At first, I was sort of excited, but wanted to talk it over with my folks. Then, I found many posts on ripoffreports and here, and heard many horror stories. I couldn't help but notice, however, that most of them were from people who were leasing their trucks, and many complaints were in regards to not having much home time.

I am young, don't have any kids or a girlfriend/wife, so I honestly don't really mind being out on the road for extended periods of time. I am having a REALLY hard time finding work at the moment, and this seems like an adventure. Is CR England OK for someone in my situation (no bills, kids,etc)? What can I realistically expect to make once my training is over, money-wise?

Also, I had another little question about the physical. I HAD high blood pressure, but after changing my diet up, it is in the upper range of normal. Say I get nervous or something, and my blood pressure is a bit high at the physical, will that disqualify me? I am sorry for asking all of these questions - I planned on asking Austin (my recruiter). However, people have basically been making these people out to be crooks, so I doubt what sort of honest answer I would get from him. Any input would be greatly appreciated, guys.

You want to go with CR ENG? Good luck with that. The deal with CR ENG is: if you don't attend to their academy later when you apply, CR ENG will charge you couple hundred buck for not spending 4k and not learning how to drive the "CR England" way.

I don't know about you but it's not really the kind of fleet I would recommend for you to join. I have heard lots of horrible accusation and grievances here and there against CR ENG. Most of their drivers leave the company with very limit of CDL knowledge. Oh, and did I mention the 4 something grand they take out from your pocket?

There are many fleets out there, don't just focus on one. Specially CR England

If you are fresh out of a school England charges you $1195 for a "refresher" course. In my opinion they are doing their best to defray the costs associated with bringing on a new driver. Based on current earning potential for a newbie that equates to indentured slavery. Why would anybody pay to work?

Run away - they just changed the rules on company drivers - mandatory teaming, no company solos, period. Also, you get fired if you run to Wal-Mart in your company truck. My wife and I have a lease truck, and with a solid 4500-5000 per week, we're bringing home $1000 for BOTH of us....run away.

If you haven't been porked in a while, and that is what your looking for then CRE is for you.. If your looking to get your CDL and not lease and just want to drive the open road, then you need to find another company.. There are plenty out there, and take this little advise, stay away from all company lease purchase programs. They are not what they claim to be, your making payments and paying all maitience and other cost that go with the truck. Then if anything is left it will go to you.. Good luck

According to this site, EVERY company sucks. No matter which company it is, someone has a story of a friend's cousin's uncle who got ripped off or hated the way they were treated. I'd say, go with your best instincts. Making a little money for a year and then moving on is better than staying home unemployed and broke.

I know that every company has it's horror stories, but I can't help but notice that between here, and ripoffreports.com, CR England has more than it's fair share. I guess my next question would be, if I don't have a CDL or experience, could anyone reccomend a good company I might want to look into?

Since you live in Houston, I would recommend Schnieder Bulk. They are the tanker division of SNI. I do believe they Newbies. The reason I say SNI Bulk is because I am a gas Hauler and I guess I am queer for tanks. Schnieder Bulk will force you to get your HAZMAT endorsement. Once you get that you are very marketable. Thinking like that is why so many newbies fail. They pick the wrong company. They end up with a unrepairable DAC and can not get work after that. Russian Roullette with the Application. Just pick one and pull the trigger.....
