Thanks Keendriver, was very interesting and detailed reading. Unless Maverick has purchased a lot of new trailers I dont think much has changed. Hope I can get some current maverick drivers to respond. Hows the yellow iron going things still very slow, had my fill of that also.

I hauled glass for Schneider Specialized (2 years)...which was purchased my Maverick and became Maverick Specialized, but by the time Maverick bought it I had moved on to the heavy haul fleet. My Dad and uncle hauled nothing but glass for a number of years (Metler Hauling & Rigging). I know a little bit about it...Their flatbeds are pretty ragged out, some of the newer step deck glass trailers are pretty neat, the double drop trailers (Schneider called them DD's...not sure what Maverick calls them) are the very best glass hauling trailers I've ever used, they are very similar to the old "sling pack" trailers designed by Metler, only lighter because they are aluminum (mostly). Hauling glass is a lot of work...more work than anything else I've ever done, but I liked it while I was doing it. Just got bored with it I guess. I'm not sure what to tell you so I'll just let you ask questions...I'm on a 34 restart so I have plenty of time to answer them.

Ridgerunner 665 thanks, are you saying Maverick has a heavy haul div, I was not aware of that or you running for someone else? Looks like tarping is the biggest down fall doing it on every load, I do know how long it should take to load/unload Im used to about 2 hrs normal HH load plus tarping if needed. I dont know if loads are preloaded or if its all up to me when I show up, its getting interesting. Maddad56.

Glass...Some are preloads, some are not. 2 hours...in your dreams , not a load of glass. But they do pay you for loading it, which adds up quick (not sure what the pay is at this time)ETA: I left Maverick for 2 years...only been back about 2 months (maybe less...lost track) |

I don't know nothing about Mavericks glass business... What I do know is that I hauled 1 load of glass in my whole time of flatbedding. I loaded in Owattona, MN going to Austin, TX. It took nearly 13 hours for them to load me. And then figuring out how to secure & tarp it was another couple hours. I swear all the way down to Austin just knowing that all that glass was going to be busted up when I got there... Not because of the way I drive... But because I was running I-35 most of the way. And everyone knows that I-35 would be smoother if it was gravel. Got their Sunday night... Untarped Monday morning & was pleasantly surprised that not 1 sheet of glass broke.

Viracon...been there MANY times, they usually load pretty fast up there. (compared to other glass places) I'm guessing your load was in wooden cases wasn't it....you are not responsible if "crated glass" breaks because they packaged it, if it had broke it would have been on Viracon, not you...but its hard to mess up with the crates.

Yeah it was crated. And not one crate had the same dimensions. That is why I think it took them that long to load me... Trying to figure out how to load all these crate on my skateboard... and make them fit.
