WHAT? You mean to tell me that May Trucking is hiring recent grads but no "pre-hires"? That sounds like a load of BS, what do they think they are doing hiring recent grads? that right there is "pre-hire"!!

..pre-hire is the term the CDL schools will use to qualify students for grants or loans to their school; it's more of a formality for the pre-admisssion paperwork than it is a quarantee you will have a job locked in when u graduate.. most students would probably prefer not to have a pre-hire so they can select their choices after they graduate..

..so basically the school/student wants that grant or loan money to be approved & to do that they need the student supposedly pre-hired with company ABC to meet one of the requirments on the application, even though it's a non-binding contract to actually be hired by ABC trucking co. if they graduate..

Their pay doesn't look all that awesome. $57K for 5-years experience leaves something to be desired. Reefer outfits aren't big on the hometime. Just a guess - 8-weeks out, and 3 days home to make $57K.

Not putting anything down. I am glad you are enjoying the job.

First company I went with was May trucking. Done one trip from Payette, ID to Pennsylvania and then to brooks, OR. Done my soloing out test, passed with flying colors, got my financial aid for school, then I quit them. The experience sucked and I hated all of May trucking policies that would penalize the driver. On our trip we ran out of fuel 3 times because May would only have us pick up 25 gallons of fuel here and there and only fill up at a May terminal, and when you have to wait 2-3 hours for someone to bring you 10 gallons of fuel your loosing money. Pretty common thing from what some of the drivers told me. They also charged me and my "mentor" (Don't know why they call them mentors as they don't teach your anything) for a blown tire that we couldn't bring back with us. We were already heavy and they wanted us to pack on extra weight.

Glad your enjoying May and good luck with your trucking adventures. I now work for a local company that hauls harvest products that I really enjoy.

BigRig,

Thank you for posting the May Trucking thread, I didn't even know the company existed. Put in an application 8/2/2009 as a driver with experience. Am waiting for the call-back. If I don't get one by Friday, will send an email asking about application status.

Anyway, thank you for the company information. Appreciate it very much.

Big Rig -

Thanks for the PM - I will soon, once I know what I need to ask. Does May offer referral bonuses?

I really hope that they have changed their fill up policy - I hate running out of fuel in a car - can't imagine running out of fuel in a rig.

Hello,

I spoke with a MS. Leonna, at May Trucking. For the Phoenix Terminal, the Business does not hire outside of a 75m radius of Phoenix.

Little Princess Out.
