| What are you thoughts? Hey y'all, hope all is well. I'm new to this forum as of about 20 minutes ago. My name is Jeremy, 22 years old and looking into truck driving. I just finished a dual Associates degree in Criminal Justice and Homeland Security. For some reason though it seems that every place I applied for a law enforcement job, I got denied. After all the rejections I am falling back on my 'back up plan.' Ever since Middle school I wanted to be a truck driver. In Highschool I got into law enforcement #### more and decided I pursue that and then keep truck driving as a 'back up plan.' I have no experience at all when it comes to driving a rig. I need the 'schooling.' My question(s) I wanted to find out are these: 1) What's a good Trucking School 2)Whats a good company to work for 3) How much more beneficial would it be for me to become a owner operator compared to just being a driver? The reason I am asking these questions is because I don't want to be duped. I've been looking at CR England for the past two days and thought it would be awesome, until I read a post on here about how badly they screw a guy. I put in an application to Swift but have yet to hear anything. I'm not sure which way to go and basically I am looking for insight. I appreciate any and all help any of you can give me. Thanks for reading this. Take Care, Jeremy |

| Do yourself a favor. Stick with your associates degree, keep applying for law enforcement jobs and forget about driving a truck. I spent 30 years in this industry and had I known what it was going to become I would never have gotten behind the wheel. My son wanted to drive. I threw a fit. He entered a college program in law enforcement and today he is a State Trooper. Yep, a truck drivers son is a State Trooper. I couldn"t be prouder because for once he listened. Please use your associate degree. Best of Luck to You! |

Welcome to the Forums!!! What State are you looking for a school in? Do check with the Community/Technical Colleges in your area. They provide some of the best training in an accredited program. This will also give you the option of picking a better company than bottom feeders. With no contracts to sign Best of luck to you!
