Hello. I am new to this forum and would like to share my experiences with my current job. I have been employed by the Linde Group for a few years now, after a long career as a feeder driver for UPS in Southern California. Due to a personal situation (unplanned divorce) and the need for better health care, I returned to work driving for Linde. They are the world's largest manufacturer of industrial/medical gases and operate air separation plants around the world and the United States. [ I drive cryogenic tankers in a 3 Western state area with mostly local and some line-haul runs. Linde is a very decent place to work if you are interested. Pay is currently over $21.00 an hour and with the incentive, you can pretty easily average $25-28 an hour. The incentive comes with knowing the job and the customers and being efficient, NOT running 2 logs and speeding etc. Health and welfare benefits are excellent and company policy is "5 on/2 off". We get paid double-time for all holidays (11), 2 weeks vacation the first year and 7 sick/personal days. We also get defined benefit pensions. New drivers (after training at full pay-cryogenic training, BTW, not driving training) WILL work nights and weekends and as you accumulate seniority you can bid into a better schedule. Shifts are routinely 11-14 hours, five days a week. All tractors are newer Pro-Stars with CAT engines and 10 speeds. However, if you like to go fast, Linde is NOT the place for you. ALL tractors are equipped with an on-board GPS based computer which tracks speed, excessive braking etc. They expect you to drive ONLY the posted speed limit at all times and can be strict about it. Electronic logs are mandatory and when your times up, you go home or layover in a hotel, no ifs and or buts about it. Road expenses are paid (Hotels paid, meals@ $35 a day etc.) We do slip seat trucks, but equipment is well maintained or it doesn't leave the plant. Management is very driver friendly and safety meetings are all paid at local hotels. Safety is THE priority, which I like. If I roll into a hospital for example and I think the location is not safe, I call in and split and they back you up. On the other hand, accidents are not tolerated (major-DOT preventable). Anyway, sorry to be so lengthy, but I know we have some plants across the country that are looking for good drivers and in today's economy, we are a stable employer. We haul liquid oxygen, nitrogen, argon, hydrogen and helium. I am new to this forum and have read so much about bad employers that I thought maybe someone would like to know that there are still some good company's out there...No recruiter here, just a driver..And I should add that Linde requires 3-5 years driving exp., a clean Class A, with Hazmat, and a clean background as you will have to get a security clearance for our customers.
Linde Group...not bad at all....

Darn, no openings in Arizona. Welcome to the forum!

I'm sorry but I forgot to add that yes driving 55mph can be a pain, but we also get a yearly $2000.00 bonus for no accidents/tickets. Sorry, no plants in Arizona (yet) but Kansas and Texas and Louisiana and Wisconsin are in hiring mode right now, I think.

hi,i also work for LINDE-BOC-AIRCO GASSES. i find it funny that in this day and age of high unemployment people will not work for 75,000 to 95,000 per year. and the main reasons are 1. i aint drivin no truck at posted limits..the fellow posted before is pretty accurate in his depiction fo LINDE LLC. we run teams out of kansas. we drive the newest equipment[though it be INTERNATIOAL PRO STARS] AND WE RUN BY THE BOOK. NO DOUBLE SPEAK, NO WINKING AND NUDGEING. the EBOR keeps us legal and its the law. many times our week is planned and 6,700 miles is the norm, with some exceptions. we work 6 and off3 as a rule but can work 7 and off2. ..i get tired of hearing these guys and gals crying about today is their childs birthday and they cant be home...duh dont listen and dont do anything to better your position, keep up the 3 weeks out and 3 days off. we cant find drivers who have a clean record.experience and willing to run team. this company LINDE LLC has put $ 71,742.00 in an account for me in 12 years of their money i have and cant add to it.it cant be touched by anyone,ANYBODY ELSE DOING THAT FOR DRIVERS, WE SPLIT .58 CENTS PER MILE 20.00 HOURLY... TAKE 6700 MILES DIVED BY 2 MULTIPLY BY .58...$1642.00 +APRX 7HRS 140.00 WHERE ELSE IS GOING TO PAY THAT. NONBELIEVERS I HAVE CHECK STUBS HAVE A GOOD DAY AND STAY SAFE! MYDOG NICK
