Historian and former journalist here, and thought I'd chime in with a few interesting things about Linde that I learned when doing a research project. Reason for doing so is because some drivers have moral concerns for who they work for, despite pay or other issues.

Linde is heavily responsible for helping facilitate the biggest known genocide in world history. Along with Bayer corporation, Linde was a struggling company in pre-WW2 Germany until getting the lucrative contracts that led to this genocide. Among those substantial contracts were partnerships that would invent the infamous "Zyklon B" chemical gas which was used to kill an estimated 8 million people. As many of you have already figured out already, those being killed were German Jews, and the contracts Linde worked on was for the infamous Nazi Party.

Just a little food for thought while discussing Linde's corporate side...

I guess that means I shouldn't buy a Mercedes either. They supplied Nazi vehicles during WW2.

    Thats quite a stretch, buddy:

"Manufacturing an automobile for commercial and military transportation"

    VS.

"Manufacturing a cyanide-based odorless gas distribution system specifically designed for killing large groups of human beings in a concentrated and confined area"

Im curious where u found this info regarding Zyklon B. I have always read that AG Farbin which at the time was the largest chemical company in the world developed Zyklon B as a pesticide/rodent killer. Later they manufactured and or contracted out some of the manufacturing of the product minus the "odor" so they could meet the orders placed by the Nazis for the killing of humans. Where does Linde fit into all this? Thanks

With regards the the lie that Linde developed Zyklon B:

Right after the First World War the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Schädlingsbekämpfung MBH (Degesch) was founded by German chemical companies and was led by Haber. Ferdinand Flury developed Zyklon A in 1920 working for Degesch. Walter Heerdt, Bruno Tesch and Gerhard Peters all worked for Fritz Haber and out of this group of Haber’s assistants, Walter Heerdt was named the official inventor of Zyklon B in 1922. The German patent office, the Reichspatentamt finally awarded the patent in 1926. This timeframe was well before the death camps and the Nazi rise to power.

huckstah, I'd be curious as to the 'few things' you found out doing your research as this is only one item and false at that.

STAY AWAY from LINDE especially the Delta/Fostoria sites. You will be sorry. The new hiring manager at that site will make your life miserable and probably ruin your driving future. Read the job posting very carefully. Violation of any one of those is grounds for immediate termination. The hiring manager has a history of abusing what little power he has and any plant he has worked at has been relieved he moved on. His initials are TA and again you will regret ever knowing this cruel person

Joe, make up your mind? I guess you quit driving? You stated earlier...Absoultely, the best driving job I have ever had. Faults, yes, but if you aint happy here then you better quit driving truck. I dont make what some of these guys on here do, but Im bringing home 1000/week normally sometimes more or less. Negatives to me are slip seating, boring LTL. Pros, 5 day schedule, home everyday, paid holidays and the dispatching is outstanding. By the way, I just got hired by Linde, and got a $2000 sign on bonus! If you do your job right, the cameras don't mean squat!!

You must of worked for a different Linde than I did. Man our worlds were way different. You forgot to add the cameras facing the driver, the extreme micromanagement, the glazing over if you complain about a customers site being unsafe, goose step lessons (joke) but it was about all that was missing to make working there pure hell. Oh yah slip seating sometimes 2-3 times each shift, no phone, cb, etc, hot uncomfortable personal protective equipment etc etc.

Give it time, they put on a good show at first, but as you pointed out I was very enthusiastic at first, then the extreme micro-management started. I remember my first clue this wasnt a good place to be was a statement made to me the day I completed my 3 weeks of training. " Do one thing wrong and we will see you gone." I let it slide at that moment but they weren't kidding, you are monitored from your wardrobe, boots, language etc. I think you get the jist. This may be the type of environment you like, if so then Linde is the place for you. I was fooled at first as I stated, "best driving job I've ever had". I wish it was so, I hate changing jobs but in my opinion there is no reason to stay at such an unforgiving place, we are all just trying to do our job, but if you are not happy move on. I've quit two companies because of dumb policies and as long as you protect your good driving record changing jobs although not always fun, can get you to where you feel the best about going to work. I thought Linde was that place but sadly it did not work out. The best way for you to know for sure is give it a try, Linde is ALWAYS hiring, that in itself should tell u something.
