no bonuses yet, I have a lease completion bonus growing that is 1.5 cents per mile for the 2 year lease.
Incorporation is an expense that does a single operator like me no good. As I own the company and drive the truck, I am personally liable as the driver so incorporation would not protect my personal assets.

Trucking Jobs in 30 seconds
Every month 400 people find a job with the help of TruckersReport.
-
On your gross pay will you be able to deduct per diem from that?
-
Yes I do, along with all expenses I incur while away from my Tax Home.
-
I bet the expenses can add up to a very healthy deduction. I am looking forward to the tax advantages.

TLea, how long is the warranty on your new truck? Do you try ro negotiate the terms of the lease to expire before the warranty expires?
-
The warranty on the truck is 4 years, since this is a replacement truck for me, this lease ends in july 2010. Then the lease is for 2 years. there is no negotiation on the lease, they offer, and you accept their terms or don't sign. You do not own the truck at the end of the lease, it is not a purchase plan.
-
Do you plan to keep that truck or get something different? After I get some time on the road I am considering the alliance program, however I would not want to lease a truck that was out of warranty. I think that would be too risky.
-
Very few of Stevens trucks are out of warranty. They sell them just before that time comes. with the current economy, they do have some trucks for the grad fleet that have 500,000+ miles.
All alliance lease trucks are under warranty. Nothing to worry about there.
This is a 2009 T660. I will not keep this truck, as the 2009 Trucks will not meet the EPA mandated pollution controls for 2010. The 2010 engines reduces the use of EGR, and uses a mix of EGR and SCR, which is proven tech from Europe. -

TLea, thank you for posting your numbers.
Is there a way to figure the cost of your unpaid miles? If so, is this expense tax deductible?
