Ok to start I have wanted to go back to driving but I need to lose weight. On 1-20-2009 I was 505. I tryed diff diets and would lose some weight but get it back just as fast as I lost it. I have been thinking of having gastric bypass surgery for i have tryed it all.
But the ? is if I have the surgery will I still be able to get CDL and drive. I now that i can with sleep apnea.
Does anyone know?
Thanks..

So what happens now? Are you gonna try WLS or just draw disability? -
I don't know what wls is but I will get 1600.00 a month on disability.

as long as you get a doctors clearance you will be good to go. I would decide based more on how it will help you to improve your health than if you would be able to drive........If you were going to get a "lap-band" it is usually done laproscopically...with only 3-5 small incisions. the full roun-x-y bypass takes much longer to heal and it is not reversible. I have heard of some companies not wanting to hire drivers that have had it done in the past which is crazy...but....their company, their rules.

Hmmm - interesting outlook on working, disability and health by some of the people posting, but whatever.
At the very least you should lose the weight to remain *LIVING*. I don't know how old you are or your height, but at 505 you are morbidly obese regardless of height. At that weight your life expectancy could be as little as 1-2 years. Do you have diabetes, high BP? All those will go away once the weight is lost.
The surgery would not effect your ability to drive/obtain CDL/pass DOT physical.
