My husband and I have known for at least a couple of years that Axe products "repel" me because I have a high allergy quotient for any of them - immediate headache and breathing problems. Last night, James (my husband) came home complaining of an allergy attack he had had and we traced it to the new version of Axe he had tried (trouble breathing with drainage and vomiting and BP down to 116/66 - his usual is 125/76 or so), since he was home for at least 8 hours he took Benadryl to clear it up. He gets up this morning and informs me he wants to try it again to "make sure if it caused the allergy". I nixed it using the strongest terms I could think of along the lines of "what happens if the allergy attack is worse and you go unconscious while driving are you in control of the truck then?". I also told him to give the Axe away and that if he gave it to his trainer, Danny, to ask Danny not to wear it when they are in the truck together which James agreed to do. I also gave him the unscented Speed Stick I had just bought and had worn enough to know that it does not affect me (I am quite allergic to any scented products so I tend to be the control person for how allergenic a product is) so I told him I was pretty sure that that deodorant/antiperspirant would be much less likely to give him an allergic reaction making it much better for him.

At least I got him to listen to me because I let him know that I was being safety conscious in this matter. I had also told him "Remember, I refuse to drive somewhere if I am having an allergic reaction and I am driving a vehicle that weighs much less than the truck you drive for a living and I do everything possible to keep from having an allergic reaction if I MUST drive."

Apparently, if a woman is not allergic to scented products (I am especially sensitive to the Axe line of body sprays/antiperspirants/deodorants), then they are designed to attract women so if ALL women are running from you when you are wearing those products, then it must be something else, AXE. :biggrin_2551:

I basically told my husband that since the Axe products are affecting my husband negatively and they are supposed to attract women and only repel HIS WIFE that I saw NO reason for HIM to wear them LOL. Let's put it this way, my husband has NO problem with OTHER men attempting to wear Axe products around ME because he KNOWS I will beat a FAST retreat ROFLMAO - he also does not care if other men wear Axe products around other women because my husband is not interested in other women.

they are running away because even without the allergy AXE is still a foul smelling walmart cologne.

and pics of being pulled over by the cops doesn't help lol

Yes, Axe products are the worst of the products that are scented for me. It is a wonder that we were able to get home successfully on Tuesday - I had to pick him up since his car was home so his brother could get 2 more door/ignition keys made for it - and we made a 30 minute stop at a friend's house where I was sitting right next to James. I did not notice the Axe scent until James removed all but his skivvies and stood in my doorway when I got an instant headache followed by trouble breathing then noticed the smell. He had been mentioning that he thought he had developed an allergy to bread then mentioned that the trouble breathing and drainage started just after he put the Axe on (well, DUH! might the Axe product not be the REAL problem?!) So, he took a bath to remove it, took Benadryl (since he had at least 8 hours before he would need to drive again) - I just put a blanket at the crack under the door between my bedroom and the bathroom and left the bathroom door open to the hallway for the next 24 hours to let the bathroom air out. He then went to sleep.

I ordinarily keep the doors to my bedroom closed to make sure that Red (the newest kitten) remembers to use the litter box - he remembers if he is only allowed in my bedroom but "forgets" if he is allowed the run of the whole house. OW! DUMB kitten was playing with a string on my blouse and hit a sensitive part of me with the claws.
