Hi all. I thought this may be a fun way for those trying to keep fit or just get a little more exercise each day to help motivate each other. I have a Nike app on my IPhone that tracks distance/time etc when walking so I am going to use that as the phone is always in my pocket. I was thinking we could also include a short description of were we walked and what it was like . For example if you parked at a rest area that had a nice grassy area to do a few laps of , or a truckstop with nearby park trails etc. I don't think my iPhone app would show a distance for a treadmill so if I use one of those I am just going to post the time I walked on it for. I would hope this thread is a good way to help motivate each other so dont be embarrassed to post your results, I know I won't be breaking any Olympic records just yet LOL. Also if anyone wants to include any diet info such as healthy recipes or good grocery stores etc that would be great as well. I am going to post my pedometer results and what I ate each day as I think this will help me to be more mindfully of what I eat and motivate me . Well I hope this thread helps so post your results if you want to.

Believe it or not, water is your best freind. My wife went to a doctor to get some help with losing weight and the doctor told her to drink water every hour, but here is the trick. Have it cool or room temp water. Cool is better for your body burns up to 50 calories an hour to warm the water in your stomach so your body can absorb it. Also, don't gulp the water. Slowly sip it as you need it. Your body will dump off the excess water weight you are carrying for your body feels it is getting a constant supply of water. No joke, but she lost 5 lbs in a week! I tried it and I am doing around 2 per week.

Another suggestion is to trick your body on the diet you eat. Her doctor said to turn your metabolism back up, you eat a regular meal one day and diet meal the next. What you are doing is making your body feel like it is getting a constant supply of food intake and it starts dumping off the fat. I will wanr you, I started this two weeks ago per my doctors recommendation to lose some weight to get the lbs down so I won't be flagged anymore for the sleep study and those days I do the diet, I am literally using the restroom every two hours with the big potty breaks. Not to be graphic, but I hope it is working because I feel a little bit better, energy wise, and I feel less pain in my body (stomach from gases, joint pain) and I scaled this morning and lost 5 lbs. I have been losing 2 lbs a week and to lose that 5 lbs felt good!

I eat for example on day one, I eat pancakes for breakfast, a tuna sandwich for lunch, and chicken breast with veggies, potato, and dessert for dinner. Day two I have one egg and protein shake. unch will be a chicken or turkey salad, and dinner will be a cheicken breast with veggies only. If I feel hungry, I will do a protein shake as I am walking. Not energy, protein (which I find EAS to taste best and I have tried nearly every one of them). On day one I will eat larger portions and day two I try to keep the portions around the size of a cup. Man what a difference. With so much sitting, your body doesn't need the calories and now I am finding myself eating smaller portions on day one because my stomach is tightening back up.

On my pedometer, I try to average at least 1 mile per day outside of the usual stopping at truck stops in back row, last fuel island, etc, and ended up walking about 2 miles by the end of the day. At first I thought man I don;t like this walking, now I enjoy it for I see the benefits it has done for me. I went from 370lbs and now weigh 312. I went from a size 52 waist and I am now down to a 48. I can wear a 46, but it feels al ittle tight. I stand at 6' 2". My brother bought me a bullworker, which we used in our teen years, so I can add in some strength training. It takes less than 10 min per day. When I used it when I was younger, 10 minutes a day had us both bulk and I would like to get at least fit. I have taken care of other people's stuff, other people, etc and now it is time I take care of myself. For those that say "I don't have time to exercise, that is ok. You will have plenty of time when you are 24 hours dead." I heard that quote and that made me really turn myself around. The average life of a truck driver is 62. I am 35, turning 36 next week. I really want to live past 62. I am just starting to have health problems and others I know have no problems at all. I am the only overweight one so that tells me my weight is the factor.

I like the idea of posting those rest areas or truck stops with good places to walk or run. I expect to be back on the road sometime in Sep and will contribute as I find them.

This is a great idea! I use an app called my fitness pal so cool it will find the nutrition info for any food at any restaurant. Everyone just check it out it does a lot! I've lost over 30 lbs with it. Whats yalls best step counter? I use the one that came with my android its not to arcuate though.

I walked 2.6 miles yesterday , I went down to a Walmart from the truckstop and back and then went around the truckstop once. It felt good to be moving around. I didn't do too good on the food though. I had a McDonald's breakfast sandwich and a coffee and hash brown and then had an egg salad sandwich and a red bull for lunch. I hate to admit it but I had pizza for supper , I really need to work on my diet. It's a start though to be walking, so I am going to try to improve my diet and walk as often as possible.

Good job kw! Doing anything is better than nothing. Making small changes each day works for some, cold turkey for others. Keep trying and you will find what works for you. Doesn't matter how big the step is, it just matters that you took the step.

Well didn't get any walking done today. Had to push hard to get down the road after getting a repair done on the truck this morning. I did eat better today though, two salad rolls and a big bottle of water . I even resisted the temptation to just get McDonald's!
