The Federal Diabetes Exemption Program application requires a "Copy of your driver’s license and motor vehicle record." I can make a records request to the DMV for a state issued driving history record, but that takes about 3 weeks. For $40 Backgroundchecks.com gives instant results. My question: is that report good enough for the FMCSA or will they reject the application because they want a report issued directly from the state DMV?

Yeah, the fmcsa dot.gov site is a bottomless pit. I did send an email to fmcsamedical@dot.gov, I also left a voicemail at their main office, 703 448 3094. In the past I have been presently surprised at how fast they call back. In one day, I got 2 calls back and an email after leaving a voice mail the previous day.

You have to get a copy of your driving report from the DMV. You can go in person and get one instantly at any DMV office or you can do it online and wait.

    From the application:

Ah yes, #4. Doesnt get any clearer that that. Reading is a plus.

The whole process is a death march and the actual instructions on the first page of the application package is as clear as mud. But I guess it is the Federal government. Your tax dollars at work. And its not just me, at the DOT physical today, the Nurse Practitioner wasnt sure what exactly to write where on the ME certificate in light of my insulin use. So even her end of it was not clear, I was there 2 hours for a 45 minute exam.

I am going to check with DMV to see if I can get a copy of my driving record on the spot in a DMV office tomorrow. That sounds way too easy :O_o_1PIRATES30:
