I can remember in my youth, many restaurants offered "Blue Plate Specials" at lunch time that was basically a "small" plate with sensible entree portion, 1 sensible starch (carbs) portion, and 1 vegetable portion, and maybe a small dessert portion ... for a sensible price.
Any truck accessible restaurants still offer such a thing?

Don't know about the "blue plates" any more, but there sure are a lot of "greasy spoons!"

the greasy spoons can usually be fixed with soap and water, in my experience, Don.
The little truck stop in Sauk Center, MN on the south side of 94 used to have something like a "blue plate special". Haven't been out that way in maybe 10 years, so I'm not sure if they are even there any more. -

Hitchen Post 500 in Gainesville TX. Good daily lunch specials. Never gotten a bad meal there. Decent Mexican food as well. Catfish, chicken fry, smothered steak are some I can remember. Burgers are also fresh and good. Got their version of a Philly cheese steak once. Was not like a real one w/sliced ribeye like Steve's in Philly. But was a really good sandwich. Sides like fried okra/squash are cooked when ordered so they are nice and crisp. Exit 500 on I-35 just South of OK border and just North of town on W side of 35..
