Get enough sleep. Don't set the alarm, just sleep till you wake up.

Watch your diet. Sugar crashes make you tired when you shouldn't be. Slow release sugars (low glycemic index) from apples for instance are far more helpful than those king size candy bars.

Snack on proteins, fibre and fats. Leave the junk food on the shelf.

Water, lots of water. Almost everything else you can drink will dehydrate you because they are diuretic in their effect. Believe it or not, drinking water will not cause you to go to the bathroom more often vs other liquids.

Chew gum,,,it seemed to work for me. An old timer said as long as your mouth is moving you won't fall asleep. Seemed to work for me. Sugar free of course !

Rest is best though. Get. Sleep test to see what is wrong with your sleep time if any,,,

    good luck

The most important thing to do is defend your sleep. At the very least simply be aware of anything and everything you choose to do that is going to shave minutes---or worse still hours---off of your sleep time during your next full sleep and based on this awareness, choose wisely.

Wife and I team. I drive during the night and help her out when she needs my help during the day. I've tried everything and the only thing I've found that helps to stay awake is getting as much sleep as possible.

I plot entire world domination in my mind.
If I finish that before the end of the road, I repeat it all with a heavy lisp.

Keep the mind active. Radio, phone (headset), plot and plan. Write letters in your head.

AC/DC, Alice Cooper, The Who, and so on. My mom always told me to eat apples, otherwise a big bag of jelly beans worked for me. I'd see how long I could make a jelly bean last, and then try to break that record, or, a brisk walk, if you dare, and if it's cold outside, sticking your head out the window slaps you around for a while.:biggrin_2554:

Roll your window down, fresh blowing air will invigorate you. Sing out loud with the radio, but talk radio will make you sleepy. Stop the truck, get out and walk around the truck 2 or 3 times, checking stuff as you go. Stay a little hungry, full belly will make you sleepy. No junk food. Get on another CB channel and start a conversation. But when it is time to go to sleep and you know it, pull over.
