My blood pressure is always high when I go to the docs anyway.
Iam usually scared to death as I had a really bad experience with a doc one time and never got over it.
SO, I have to find whatever I can to relax me before even attempting to get in the car and go.............sigh

I had moderately high blood pressure for a while and was even prescribed Toprol for it. I however made a request of my doctor to allow me to come off the Toprol and I have been keeping track of my BP at home. So far so good. As long as your bp is just moderately high, here are some suggestions for lowering it prior to going in for the physical.
I would suggest for a few day prior to the physical you do as much of this as possible. Now granted, Im no doctor. But this is what I have learned from research I have done for myself.
Sleep... Atleast 8 hours per night.
Avoid Tea, Coffe, Soda, and any other refined beverages.
Avoid proteins, especialy meat and eggs.
Avoid salt, especialy table salt.
Foods that are good for blood pressure are lemon, grapefruit, and watermelon. They are high in Vitamin P which is supposed to be good for blood presure. Rice and boiled potatos are good too. Fruits and vegtables high in potassium are also good.

Sorry to thread jack but its on topic and I didn't want to create a new one.
I just received a 3 month card for high blood pressure. I'm confident I can get it under control without meds but will I have a hard time getting hired with a 3 month cert.?Last edited by crookiz; 06.04.2008 at 09.54 PM. Reason:: grammar

It was right at 150/100 I was really nervous about the whole thing which I'm sure contributed to it but I also need to eat better and lose a little weight. I don't know how companies will view this when trying to find work.
