Yea, what they did to NightWind's friend was messed up big time. Now she will basically have to live her life just to pay for drugs (after BC/BS stopped paying for them). Talk about cold-hearted, wow.

Now, I do give them credit on my operation a couple years ago...I had almost NO blood, they had to give me 3 units and I was STILL way low (still don't know why on that one), then they found my stomach was actually up in my chest cavity (by heart and lungs) and had to have an operation that cost almost $40,000 and they DID pay most of it besides about $6,000 for crap they say was up to me while in the hospital. Let's just say they WILL try and get out of anything they possibly can and are very nit-picky.

They turned me down for a Colonoscopy once. I could have hugged their necks.

they are Paying for my Wife's Insulin Pump she has one more appt with the Endocrinologist (i hope i spelled that one right) and he will prescribe her the pump and soon as she gets that BC/BS will pay for a portion of it...

they also paid for her Rehab and MRI last year for her knee and they diagnosed her with Arthritis, and they also Covered her Mental hospital counseling for her Depression after we lost our Baby at 5months back in January....

I on the other hand checked into getting a Lap band or Gastric band, and they said they wont cover it 1 bit, but i found out if i can get a doctor to tell me i have to have one i can contest with BC/BS to get them to cover it..

All N All i like them i haven't had any problems with them and they are there for us when we need them.

We are satisfied with BCBS through my wife's school employees' pension. When we reached 65, the BCBS became Medicare Advantage with Delta Dental, Vision Service Plan and Medco mail order prescriptions.

If we chose to purchase maintenance prescription drugs anywhere other than Medco, our co-pay would increase dramatically with each purchase.

There was a computer glitch when I went on Medicare. It was very frustrating with numerous three-party phone calls between myself, Blue Cross, Medco, doctor's billing clerks, etc. Although I went on Medicare in January, Blue Cross entered it as effective in March. They acknowledged their mistake, stated that they had corrected it, but I was in limbo for two months. I finally wrote a strong complaint to Blue Cross. Of course, they did not reply. Other school and doctors' employees told us that it is almost impossible to get a mistake corrected at Blue Cross.

Overall, we are fortunate to have this coverage. We did not have to select a prescription insurance card from the government's new program. My employer also offers Blue Cross, but my wife's pension medical insurance was available for life and with a lower premium. Also, the employer reduces the coverage every year to keep the premium increases within reason.

You thought she was a school teacher? No. My wife was a school cook for 13 years.

Walmart will offer generic drugs at a much lower rate than the typical top brand name. Same stuff, just at a lower price. My bc/bs loves this because I get to pay for my med's.
Health Insurance companies appear to be more concerned about making a profit a priority nowadays. I hope this situation gets turned around soon !
