Blue Cross Blue Shield

I'm applying at a company that has BCBS company paid for the driver from day one.
Is this decent medical coverage?

How are they to deal with when you need to have them pay a claim?

Thanks.

When I worked in the hospital (4 years out), BCBS was a dependable company. My husband has it now, I only have one complaint, there dental coverage isn't up to par. We have a family of 5, so it's better than none!

They don't offer dental or eye, but with 100% of driver paid I'll probably not complain too much. Besides I have no teeth at all in my head. Full dentures means NO tooth aches.......................EVER.

There not to bad to deal with.

They have some quirks every now and then about a claim or paying something and you may get a letter from them wanting more of an explanation every now and then but, all in all they are pretty good.

I have carried my own since I farmed, I don't pick up the offerings of my employers, it costs about the same as having them pay it. Hospitals prefer them, physicians may or may not like them, but they are the most widely accepted of all plans that aren't HMOs. If you get a select plan, make sure you go to the doctors that participate, the coverage is much better.

My wife and I both go to a high quality eye DR that IS NOT at Wal Mart. Costs us under $400 a year plus contacts. Premiums are going to run about that.

I've got all my teeth out, so I don't need dental.

Posted this on World Affairs maybe this will let some drivers know what they might run into with BC/BS and just about any other health insurance company should they have a long term illness.
Carole (Eistot) is my very best friend; I would gladly walk across fire for her if need be. She has MS and takes shots to keep it in the stage that it is in. Without those shots, she will go into an advanced stage of MS from which there is no recovery. MS does not kill you. It may contribute to the development of other symptoms and diseases, but MS alone does not kill you. You might wish you were dead because of the pain, the continuous fatigue, and the changes in your lifestyle, the loss of independence, and other issues that come with it but it will not kill you.

Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Alabama decided that they would call those drugs and some that cancer patients take are “Specialty” drugs and they would be covered only after the patient pays the first $5,000.00 out of pocket and after that is met they will pay 50%. MS drugs are expensive, between $1700-$2200.00 per month. How many of us could afford to pay that?

They know people need these drugs to maintain their quality of life, and to decide that they will no longer give them affordable access to these life saving drugs is a shame and a travesty of justice. It goes against ALL that we stand for in this country and just shows that we as people are at the mercy of the “BIG Companies” that care ONLY what their stockholders return on investment is. Even worse, we have failed to remember and practice some of the most important things we have been taught since we were children. To love our neighbor and treat others as you want to be treated. This is the state of our nation and ultimately traces back to each of us a humans. We are sadly failing to get past the “me first” stage.
