Back problems common in trucking? I'm planning on getting into the industry soon, but have somewhat of a sensitive back. Are back problems common among truck drivers or are the seats comfortable enough and provide enough back support to help with back issues? I plan on doing lots of stretching anytime I can, but sitting for hours at a time can be horrible on your back, just wondering how it really is.

Does no one out there have any input on this subject? Surely someone has had back pain at some point and made some change to their seat or position to help. Anyone? Thanks

i get back pain when i drive. but i think it has to do with previous injuries from the military. however i find that if your back starts to get strained, wear a backbelt where the pain is. or if your truck has a lumbar support (which mine does not, way to treat your drivers con-way) use it. but always adjust it.

Thanks very much for the responses. I figured they would make the seats generally comfortable if the people they are paying are going to be sitting in them for such a long time. Sitting on a milk crate doesn't make for happy employees.
