Hurt OTJ

Hello everyone, i'm needing a little advice because i'm in a situation that i've never been in before. I got hurt at work on 1-30, after a very painful 4 hour drive back to the terminal the company sent me to their doctor who sent me to the hospital for x-rays. Went back to the see the company doctor on 2-1 and he told me the x-rays looked suspicious, sent me back to the hospital for a mri. Followed up on 2-5 with the company doctor, he confirmed that i have a ruptured disk in my neck and 2 others that are bulging, arthritis in my spine and degenerative disc disease. The company doctor wants to refer me to a neurosurgeon but apparantly the neurosurgeon isn't on the list of doctors for the insurance company. I called the company doctor on 2-8 to get my pain medication refilled because i'm in extreme pain and he acted a little upset that they haven't gotten me to the neurosurgeon yet. I'm just at a loss here because it's workers comp. and they're calling the shots. I just want to get whatever is wrong fixed and get back to work. Thanks in advance for any help, God bless.

IF that DOCTOR is not on the list, then there should be others that are.

Iam on a plan where my insurance only pays for certains doctors too, and I have a book of Dentists and Medical Doctors that you can go to.

Ask Workmens Comp about this or your insurance co.

The deal with Work Comp is they want to find the cheapest way to get you fixed and then release you back a soon as possible. You might have to pressure your company and if they don't help you then you might have to lawyer up.

My BIL had a neck issue such as yours, and I'm not trying to bear bad news here, but he had to get an attorney, to get a referral to the specialists that he needed to see.

He worked for the county and was walking under the overhead automatic door when another worker pushed the button, the door came down on his head a ruptured several disks in his neck.

The General Practitioner that they sent him to, wouldn't refer him to the proper doctor, so he fought and fought with the work comp people to get an appointment with a neurosurgeon. He finally had to hire an attorney, because they kept sending him in for test, but not resolving the problem.

I hope that you get your appointment without having to go this route, but I wouldn't wait too long, because of pressure on those nerves. The longer that its there, the more damage there will be. Don't let them put you off, stay on them, and get yourself taken care of. Good luck, and keep us posted.

ok, thanks guys those are the types of things i was wanting to know about. as i said in my previous post i've never had any dealings with workman's comp. i really hate to have to get a lawyer cause i really don't like them either, plus that will cost money which i really don't have right now. i got hurt on the 30th and haven't worked since then nor have i received a check from workers comp. it's all very aggravating to me, but thanks for the words of encouragement.

I too was going to recommend a lawyer. It sucks that you have to resort to these measures to get taken care of!

Socialized medicine sounds really damn great doesn't it?

NOT as this will be the NONSENSE we'll be dealing with all the time then.

Look for someone specialized in WK or personal injury. Your first phone call should be free, and you can get an idea of what you are up against. I'm sorry that they are treating you this way. It sucks that we have to take control and fight for what is right, but thats the way its been for the past 20 years. I don't see the WK system changing anytime soon.

If any of you know anyone that is voting pro-socialized healthcare, pose this question to them. If socialized health care is so great than why are people from canada, france and the uk coming here to have certain procedures done. France is actually in the process of scrapping their system. i know the system here isn't great but it's a darn sight better than what they have over there. i actually spoke with a canadian truck driver some time ago that told me his wife had a brain tumor but they couldn't get anything done about it until she got the mri done. they had been waiting 6 months and still hadn't gotten in to get the mri done. people are dying there just waiting for basic services like these, here's another question for them. so you want the govt. to take control of your healthcare? the same govt. that has BANKRUPTED social security, medicare and medicaid. THESE ARE THE PEOPLE YOU WANT CONTROLLING YOUR HEALTHCARE...PUHLEASE!!!

They'll deny that such things happen and call you a liar.
There is a canadian on the forum already and we've been down that road with her.
