When I get the Dock installed (and the updates installed) I see that you need to use the wall or 12v charger. So I switch.

I start to enter address while the unit is charging. When that's done I start playing around with the preferences.

Somewhere during all of that I try to turn the unit off. Now it's stuck on the Power Off screen. Nothing I do seems to make a difference.

Do I have a brick? (It wasn't really $500. I'm just rounding up slightly.)

    Additional Info:

I THOUGHT I was hitting the reset button using a pen. I wasn't. When I used a paper clip the unit did reset. So now I have plugged it into the wall charger and will leave it until the unit shows a green light, or at least for a couple of hours.

The unit seems to have a very slow processor. That's disappointing considering the price and the processors available today. (And the 710 is supposed to be faster than the 700!)

I would suggest that the quick start guide include the information that the unit needs to be charged with the wall unit or the 12v cable. I didn't know that a computer usb port doesn't supply enough voltage for the task. Hopefully I haven't screwed up the battery too much. I do follow the instructions, if the instructions are given.

I hope the until will work as advertised from here on out.
Their is a 5"x7" card (orange) that does state to plug the Navigation device in for the 1st two hours that comes in the box on top of the head unit. Did yours not have one?

Unplug your TND for 12 hours, then plug into an AC source for 3 hours, press the reset and it should be good to go.

The 710 draws up to 2amps, the USB port provides about 500Ma.

The USB port will not provide enough for charging, but will provide enough for keep alive.

    Thanks,
    Mark

Is there anyway to have a feature that allows us to correct speed and weight limits?...I'm on I-65 today, clearly marked at 65mph and the GPS said 55 until I hit the 70mph zone...This is annoying...Or maybe an ignore feature...

Rand is aware of this and it is the way the data is written in the mapping database. RM is working on this in the Beta Version to correct this. Other wise you can turn the unit off/on again to correct.

Is it possible to search for a Flying J (or another specific brand truck stop) by the store #? When my husband is given a fuel stop he tries to enter it in as a stop in a multi stop but sometimes the truck stop he is looking for doesn't show up. Possibly the address is wrong or the city is wrong. It would be a great help if there was a way to pick a truck stop by the store number.

    Rand is junk!

So I am on my second Rand GPS. my first was a 700, second a 710, the 700 sits in a box at home waiting to be sent to rand to see if it can be repaired, (it is less than a year old and the power port is too loose) my second unit (about a month and a half old, has just developed the same problem, needless to say I am not pleased, I have read many other posts about the same problem, WTF? for the price of the unit, you should expect a high quality product, I am very dissatisfied with Rand at this point, if you are in the market for a GPS look at other brands before you hand over your hard earned money.
